according to mlbtraderumors:

The Rangers met with Oswalt and the situation is ongoing and unresolved, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan tweets.

Man, I just was reading up on tweets and rumors and for some reason just got a feeling that in the next 48-72 hours we will hear that Texas has agreed to terms with Roy. I'm up in the air over the move, but for some odd reason I feel like we aren't going to see a one year deal for Roy. I have a feeling that Texas will end up making an offer and it will be something like 2/$15M, a trade protection clause (like Koji's, a few teams he can block), and a team buyout option on the second year for like $2M.

Don't ask why, but I just don't think we make only a one year offer to him. If we are going to get him, then I'd like to try to get the second year and have limited trade protection so we can dangle him next year if he does well.

If there is any team that could afford Roy and have the bullpen depth to cover any injury issues, it is Texas.

I think it could be a great move. Like they say, you can never have too many good pitchers. I wouldn't be very surprised if he ends up being the best pitcher on our roster next year. At worst he's a really good #5 or relief pitcher. I don't see the harm unless they were to sign him to a really stupid contract, which I doubt they will. I think Ogando and Scooter will stay in the pen, and if Nefty has to stay in AAA for a little while then Oswalt would be great insurance for us.

My guess is if they do sign him Feliz will start the year in AAA if everyone is healthy coming our of ST. People talk about moving Harrison to the bullpen but you have to feel like he earned his spot and Harrison actually had better numbers against right handed batters than lefties, so making him a lefty specialist doesn't make sense.

Moving Harrison out of the rotation also makes the rotation very right handed heavy as Derek Holland would be the only lefty if Harrison were bumped. Even if Texas signs Oswalt I highly doubt Harrison is going anywhere, and things may just shake themselves out in ST.

Oswalt is just too high risk, low reward for my liking

I look at it this way... injuries happen. The Rangers could enter Spring Training with 7 starters & leave it with 5 (with the other 2 injured). Its always nice to have "options".
Reliable options that is. Teams can never have enough starting pitching.

That said, I would rather see Harrison in the rotation and watch him develop more (instead of out in the 'pen)....but... who's to say it wouldnt be Feliz that gets sent down to AAA to get accumulated to starting again...

Then one someone goes down with an injury...Feliz is ready to step in...

Rotation could look like...

Lewis (all signs point to him on opening day)
Holland
Oswalt
Darvish
Harrison

With Feliz in AAA to start the season and Ogando & Feldman in the BP.

I'd be ok with that scenario... then if/when Oswalt goes down with an injury...Feliz slides into the #3 spot.

That being said, I would be ok with them not adding Oswalt as well. All depends on the $$$...

I read an article yesterday written by a female reporter that covers the Twins and she stated that the Twins and Rangers have been discussing a trade. Anybody hear anything about this?

haven't heard anything and can't find anything. Who would the Twins want to move? Liriano? Has he been moved yet?

I think Harrison will be given a chance to pitch himself out of the rotation unless the FO is thinking sell high. Moving him to the BP seems like a waste..makes no sense. However, of the possible five or seven starters, Harrison would be my last choice to start a WS game.

None of us have a clue how ready Feliz is to step into the Texas rotation, nor how good he will be as a starter. Let's wait to make statements like this until we see him in this role at least in ST against big league hitters.

Beats me. Span was the name mentioned. I found the article under Ranger trade rumors and never thought to book mark it.
Probably just more chatter and speculation. Was curious if anybody else had heard the same thing.

who has he been closing against.......feliz in AAA is a WASTE,AAA cant teach him anything now he has a 2.55 MLB ERA and his minor league ERA is 3.02

There's a big difference between pitching one inning as a closer against big league hitters, and going 7 innings against them. Again, if they believed Feliz was so good why did they elect to move him back to the bullpen and move Ogando to the rotation? Ogando is more than capable of assuming the closers role.

Feliz knows how to throw against major league hitters. To be a starter he needs to learn to pitch to them. Some time in AAA may be needed to learn that.

we will disagree, yes it is different, but he has been pitching to MLB players for 3 years and nobody in the minors gave him much trouble either......no need to waste him down in AAA

i think AAA would be simply so he can keep stretching his arm out without feeling forced to go at least 5 innings. He can pitch every 5th day and move his inning/pitch count up. There would be no use in letting him pitch in the majors every day if he is going to still be capped at 80 pitches. That would tax the bullpen early on.
