Lakers Sign Rober Upshaw

This is the young man who got kicked out off two college programs after showing some incredible talent. It's a two year contract with the first year partially guaranteed and the second year non guaranteed. The guys on ESPN has a lot of praises for him, but Kupchak told them today that he has a long ways to go. The article seems to think Upshaw will start at the center. He's a 7 foot center that can run. This is going to make the summer league interesting to watch.

He has already blocked Towns twice and Okafor once in back-to-back games. I think this guy might be the steal of this year's class of rookies and he obviously has some things to prove. He is coming along nicely.

If he hadn't got kicked out twice he no doubt would have been a high pick in the draft. As a result he has a lot of catching to do, but deserves a second chance and appears to have some serious talent.

I totally agree TLF. And it appears he has a chip on his shoulder to show quite a few people that he does indeed have first round talent. We may have found a true diamond this year.

Lakers fans aren't the brightest. It's Robert. He was dismissed from University of Washington for drugs among other things early in the CBB season. Elite shot blocker in college that went undrafted. However I don't know why this is in the NBA forum and not the Lakers forum as it is not huge news.

It's Robert, but don't feel bad - I had forgot what his name was completely til two days ago and had to google him to get more information on him. You probably did hear about him though - go back to during the college year and he was the guy that got kicked out of two universities for violations of the rules. I'm not sure what he did, but he worked pretty hard since then to get a chance at the draft, but failed because he wasn't in college. So the Lakers picked him for the summer league to give him a chance. Like me, I'm sure you heard the story and forgot the kid's name - lol
