With some luck. They would have win their last game and get the 7th seed. The Lakers match up agains the Spurs pretty good and could get past them. The next would be the Denver Thuggets and they have matched them pretty good even though that would be an ugly series. The only thing I doubt is the Lakers getting past Oklahoma - I just don't see that happening

Its going to be extremely tough.

They will need to win probably 2 road games in each of those series with would be a tough task for a bad road team.

To be honest, the Lakers won't beat San Antonio and can't beat OKC. They have the talent but it's just not happening.

BTW, how much of a Dodgers fan are you?

I agree. I think San Antonio takes down the Lakers is 6 at most...Probably 5 if they hold serve in the first 2 games

I am a complete Dodgers fan

On the side of the Lakers, I think a lot of people are going to be surprised because I think defensively and offensively the Lakers will be better. Kobe was slowing down and slowing down the team. Kobe shot to many shots which kept everyone out of rythem and Kobe tried to steal the ball so many times that he turned it over more. I think Howard and Gasol can really dominate now

Of course they can dominate but will they dominate? On paper, they are a better team than the Spurs but I'm not betting against wily old veterans like Timmy and Pops. This injury to Kobe due to the severe nature of it, means that he has entered the stage where he's going to likely be a liability to the future development of the team.Kobe is going to have a very difficult time leaving the game.

Hey, I'm very glad to have more NL West baseball fans here. Be sure to chime in over there.

And if you don't mind me asking, are you in LA? I'm out in Temecula. :suds:

LA could give the Spurs a good series..they are a much better matchup than OKC..especially with Kobe out. WC matchups are way more intriguing than what the EC has to offer...although Bulls/Pacers should be a great series.

You be on some crack, my fellow Lakers dude. They only match up well against the Spurs if they aren't healthy. Which they could be. Parker is still having lingering issues and Manu is a walking MASH unit. But the Nugs? No way. Too athletic and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too good at home.

Such a shame Kobe got hurt...I thought LA was finally beginning to play well together. I don't think Nash will be back..I know he is under contract, but his game has fell way off...and he can't guard anyone.

Indy is struggling so it wouldn't shock me if they lose that series and god knows the Knicks does not want to see those Bulls lol.

Will Gibson be ready for the playoffs?

Spurs are banged up and are known for choking in the first round. I think they over-acheived anyway. I think the real problems for the Lakers would be Denver. Denver has been red hot this year and they hate the Lakers. Karl will use every dirty trick in the book he can think of. That would be one bruiser

FWIW, Nash could never guard anyone. I do like how he's switched roles with Kobe though. He's sort of in a role similar to Jason Kidd. He's mostly a spot up shooter now (something he's great at) but can still run the point in select spots. LA had some nice sets with Kobe iniating a pick and roll with Howard but using it as a decoy only to kick out to Nash and run a secondary screen either to get Nash a shot or have him pass

That's the million dollar ?, bks. He should play...Bulls medical staff have been bringing him along slow as to not aggravate the injury.

If it comes down to Miami vs NY, Miami wins in 5. As much as I hate to say it...aside from OKC, I don't see another team winning 4 of 7 from the Heat...LeBron has finally became a good jumpshooter..which has been pretty much his only flaw.

I think some of you have under-estimated what Metta Nutcase can do - he has been a role player when he is capable of much more and can step up.
