honestly if you youtube balls open court passing, offense, you just cant pass him up. Hes amazing for 19. I dont give 2 shits about college but this kid is gonna be an all star sooner than later.
Eh...he's overhyped (mostly because his dad never shuts up and he plays at UCLA). He's not some surefire point gawd. If you drill down on his stats, he's actually somewhat pedestrian and more in line with your typical PG lottery prospect from year to year. His passes are often to already open shooters from the offense, not that he's anticipating moves and making them open that you see from truly elite prospects. That's rare anyway for someone this young but that's the point, it's hype to say he has it when its not really the case. His defensive skills are mediocre but could be promising given his size with some work (Fultz is better). His shot mechanics are funky and could be an issue in the NBA where fractions of a second are the difference between buckets and blocks. He hasn't shown the ability to be a natural scorer like Fultz and Smith have, which is a growing necessity out of all guards in the modern NBA. The days of "we can teach him to shoot later" are waning and given that he shoots in the 60s from the FT (a good indicator of natural shooting ability), he'll need some work.
Now none of that is to say he's a garbage prospect. He's a worthy lottery pick, top 5 , etc. It's just that he's a lot closer to the rest of the pack than some make it out to be.
