There's nothing to not like about this trade, imo. Lin is young and has shown he can play in the NBA. If he can be coached into being more consistent and cut his turnover's, it can end up being a good deal for the Lakers to re-sign him for less after the season. If he doesn't improve, then let him walk and they still have the 1st round pick. Very good deal considering what the Lakers gave up to get him.

He actually did play well until 'Melo came back and demanded his iso's. I think B. Scott may be able to coach him up pretty good (assuming he's our coach). That also would be a reason to keep Nash around for 1 more season. Let him tutor Marshall, Clarkson and Lin.
