Luka is probably the most ball dominant player in the league. Trying to think of another who's more...Harden, Trae, Ja, Giannis?

Either way as mentioned Kyrie has managed

Point being, the Lakers have found a reason to turn down every opportunity they have had to move Russ and make the roster better.

Whether this was a real opportunity or not is irrelevant.

The pattern of the Lakers balking at paying a reasonable price to acquire players that can help them win today is clear to everyone paying attention.

Agree on this on general principle but not on the Kyrie deal

And then said they weren’t willing to sign Kyrie to a 4 year extension and also that they wouldn’t deal both picks unless Kyrie signed a shorter extension.

Can’t have your cake and eat it too.
They offered both picks if he signed a 2 year deal.....if it was 4 years the compensation would have been much less.

Get your facts straight.

Why would the Nets settle for less if he signed a longer extension? That doesn’t even make sense.

The Lakers would have paid less if Kyrie refused to extend. And Kyrie made it clear he didn’t want to sign a 2 year extension.

Always something the Lakers aren’t willing to do to pull off the big move.

Because, nobody wants Irving for the long term because he's crazy as fuck. Just the short term.

Duh.

I get all that.

And my position is that the Lakers haven’t been willing to take any risks to make their team better.

Always a reason.

They don’t have many trade assets. So whatever deal they make to land a difference making player is going to involve risk.

And the Lakers don’t seem willing to take any.

Duh.

There is a 3 way trade being discussed landing Tobias Harris with the Lakers.

Normally I'm front and center on Laker bashing but I don't think the Lakers had near the pieces to compete with what the Mavs offered

Plus the chance of imploding is higher with Dallas and their picks

Do you honestly believe Tobias Harris is getting you over the top?

That is exchange of bad contracts with Lakers getting an inferior player who fits better.

I do think Harris for Westbrook could make them better.

But not by enough.

You could have had Turner and Hield.

Keep clutching those picks.

Totally agree that Dallas and Phoenix packages were better.

My point is that the Lakers weren’t even willing to fully offer an inferior package without getting Kyrie to agree to a shorter extension than he was going to agree to.

They are delusional.

The Lakers are like the guy in your fantasy league who offers 2 bench players for your best then immediately shoots down a fair offer that benefits both sides.

True

I'm sure if Kyrie went for the 2 years he'd still be a Net

I didn’t say that.

But you all clutching those distant firsts like they are gold. They aren’t. Lakers squandering their opportunity to win now with an all time great.
I would trade them today, yesterday, before the season started. Don't include me with the Buss spawn lol...

Not just about Kyrie.

They wouldn’t give their firsts to acquire really anyone.

Always something.

Open your eyes.

They are willing to offer both firsts for an all-star level talent (and did for Kyrie). Still too stingy, and most all-star level talents are going to be poor fits and cost too much anyway. THE LAKERS NEED A REAL PRESIDENT OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS.

Not really the reason. They could sign Kyrie to a 2 year extension tomorrow if he was willing. They can't sign him to anything longer until he hits free agency, and his crazy ass could change his mind and want to go elsewhere.

If the Lakers could've signed him to any extension this season, they might have pushed more chips in (not that it would likely have changed the outcome).

I don't want Harris and sure as hell don't want Korkmaz now, much less next season.

Yes his personality sucks.

My point is related to basketball fit only

Which matters in the real world how? They're getting the whole Kyrie package, not just playing nice on the court Kyrie.

Sigh

Because the original point was entirely about basketball fit.

Let's not completely change the argument

Yes Kyrie is a headcase. I've not defended that man on anything for like 5 years.

Consider this the first time. When he's not a raging lunatic he can fit on the court with anyone. He's not James Harden or Russell Westbrook
