Uhhhh — Saban won absolutely nothing at MSU. He didn’t win a B1G title, he didn’t even win a single bowl game (he was actually 0-3 and lost by an average of 21 ppg) and in 5 years, his record was 34-25.

In Miami — once again, he won nothing. He had a 15-17 record, never won his division, never won his conference and didn’t even make the playoffs.

This discussion has been had already on here — you must be new.

Saban is an all time great, if you put him in the SEC where he has all the built in advantages and the lax academic standards. Did you know in his 5 years at MSU, twice as many players were suspended for academics than in 17 years in the SEC?!? We know it isn’t due to the fact players are smarter in the SEC, as the B1G has a higher standard recruits must meet.

If you want to say Saban is the best recruiter?!? No doubt. That’s why the SEC is perfect for him (they have by far the richest recruiting grounds) and why he immediately left the NFL. All his advantages were gone in the NFL.

But if 7 years outside the SEC with 49-42 record and no division titles, no conference titles, no Bowl wins and no playoff appearances is winning everywhere — who am I to argue?

This is why I still think David Shaw is the best coach in the country.....

You may be confusing my beloved University with The Longhorn Network. Buffs took in over $30M in revenue from the Pac 12 this year. Thanks for playing.

Not at all, LHN pays my school $15M a year and then the Big XII paid an additional $34.5M. Look at you and your little $30M. Awwwww......

I thought this was the Kyler Murray Heisman thread.

Welcome to the hoop, where any thread at any time can turn into a hating Saban/Alabama thread.

ESPN is dumb enough to write a $15M check, each season, for a channel most Directv and cable subscribers have no idea is even part of their package. Congrats.

I said prior to the Heisman vote that Kyler certainly had the stats to win, but I wouldn’t vote for him. There were 3 QBs up for the vote. 2 of them completely changed the offenses of their schools. OSU became a 7 on 7 team. Bama was running a wide open offense. The other one put up great numbers in a system designed to put up big numbers.

Kyler carried his team on his back. Tua didn't.

Not that I really care about the Heisman trophy, it just really irritates me when people cherry pick stats & whatever else to argue one over the other.

I don’t either.

Tua has a CFP title ring. Those are the only things that matter to me.

Those were the stats Oklahoma fans were always talking about before the Heisman.

Why should Tua be penalized because he plays for the more complete team and didn't need to spend as much time on the field, or throw as many passes, as the munchkin?

We've now seen what Kyler can (and can't do) against a legit defense. Tua is the way more efficient passer. Giving the award out before the end of the season is fucking dumb and this is proof.

Now show the rushing stats

17 carries for 109 yards.

Many of them were meaningless. Like Alabama given up 35 in 2 plays going into the half where he ran out of bounds, things like that.

He did convert a couple of 3rd downs on some nice scrambles later on in the game, and he is definitely fast as fuck, but he's not the "once in a generation" QB Oklahoma fans were claiming.

Like Shannon Sharpe tweeted, early leads like Bama's 28-0, creates a ton of garbage stats later in games.

Agreed - I think TUA is better, but statistically when you include passing and rushing Murray had a better season, however when you throw in competition, number of snaps, offensive scheme, weapons etc... that opens up a whole other conversation or thread.

That's an odd way of interpreting what I said, but okay.

Kyler Murray faced more adversity than Tua & was surrounded by a lot less talent. That should count for something imo.
