Knowshon Moreno to visit Fins on Friday per Fins beat writers.

Will be 27 already once the season starts - so, as an RB obviously doesnt have many years left in those legs so this wont be a long term option. I do hope Lamar Miller continues to develop, though.

The Fins have obviously been doing their homework - they havent made any moves since the first days of FA but they have obviously kept busy doing homework on their next moves… Lets see how it goes.

He could be a very good addition to the Fins. He is experienced & I think that he is in the prime of his career. He isn't a big bruising back but he's versatile, productive & reliable. If he gets signed by the Fins, the team could still sign one of the top FB's from the draft. J Prosh or JC Copeland to help in short yardage situations.

I'd take him for sure if the price is right.

One thing Moreno would bring is pass protection at the RB position of which we havent had in far too long

That's true, his blocking skills could help Tannehill a lot. Plus, he's a proven pass catcher that rarely fumbles. As a runner, he's averaged over 4 yrds a carry for his 5 year career in the NFL. Plus he knows what it takes to get to the Superbowl. Also, signing him would enable the Fins to use a draft pick on another position of need rather than picking a RB in the mid rounds.

As I said in the thread I just created - John Jerry has just signed with the Giants which creates another hole in our OL - so, you are right, signing Moreno would allow us to fill other neeeds in the draft.

Dolphins ESPN beat writer, James Walker, brings up something interesting - He notes how RBs arent getting that much attention because of the few who have - have been able to be had for modest amounts of money. Also, notes that some believe that Moreno’s production is a product of having Manning as his QB.

Thoughts?

I think that if Moreno expects too much money now he could make less later. This is a good draft to get a quality RB. Teams are choosing to get less expensive & younger RB's to develop. There are guys that will be avail in the second round this year that would have been early to mid first round picks 3 to 5 yrs ago. That said Moreno is one of the best avail FA RB's & could help the Fins. I'd like to see him or Blount sign, if not there should be a quality RB in the 3rd round for the Fins. RE Moreno's production because of Manning: It's definitely made him a better player in the last 2 yrs, however, he was avg 4 yrds a carry years before Peyton played at Denver. I think a bigger factor is the quality Olines that Denver has had through the years. M Ball for example avg 4.7 yrds per carry behind that Oline last year.

Having one vet RB wouldn't hurt so hopefully they can sign him to a reasonable amount. I like the fact that he can block.
