He'll get franchised (again) and be the highest paid QB over the last 3 years by a country mile.

They seem reluctant to long term him.

So it's either franchised or traded.....

This is crazy. I haven't a clue what the redskins are doing. I think he plays this season under the tag (no deal by 7/15).

Next year is contingent on how he plays this season. I suspect he wants outta Washington if that opportunity presents itself.

While I don't agree w/ the constant tags & hope that a LTD is signed by July - I hardly think that giving Cousins $45M over two years while still giving him the possibility of big money in the future equates to the Redskins having "shit all over him".

This is much more of a bad thing for the Redskins than Cousins & there is actually no proof of any type that he is unhappy with the current setup. Barring an injury (& he rarely is injured) this works out nicely for Cousins one way or the other. This idea that he is a bitter man is a 100% media creation.

I love watching the Cousins turmoil spin in DC. I think the right move would been to have signed him long term last season. I'm hoping he has enough distaste of the team he walks away no matter how much they offer

You may be right but it's not a good look for a team that hasn't had better QB in a long time. Cousins strikes me as a guy who would never tip his hand, but I wouldn't blame him for not liking the lack of commitment. Maybe not shit all over him but certainly they haven't confirmed he's part of the long range plans. That in itself would be concerning for most people after his play the last two seasons. We'll see.

It's not his style to talk through the media, but to think he's okay with this "tagging year to year" is totally foolish. These guys want that contract for security, piece of mind. I'm sure everyday he feels they are "shopping" for another QB, even during drafts I'm sure he's speculating "wonder" if the Skins take so in so with each pick.

Washington will have to allow any team they trade with the right to negotiate with Cousins. If Cousins is tagged again in 18 it will be at 34.47M.
