I doubt they fire Scott before Kobe retires and they see what he can do with the kids. Kobe is hindering that process this season, he's soooooo done.

I agree that neither of them will be winning COY anytime soon. Do you think Scott makes it through the season?

It's hard to say. On the one hand, it's only his 2nd year and I don't think last year should count against him because he was handed a crap roster that ended up being decimated by injuries which turned it into a bad D-league roster. He's also from the Showtime era Lakers which counts huge because all of those guys are still close to the seem in some aspect or other and pretty much worshiped in L.A.

On the other hand, his handling of DeAngelo Russell, as far as playing time, etc. is suspect at best and he really struggles with in-game adjustments, rotations, etc.

It also wouldn't be a good look to be firing another coach during the season. So far, there has been no indication that I have seen from the Lakers that he is on the hot seat. Just media and fans questioning his coaching/calling for his head.

I think that the Lakers would prefer to wait out the season and see how things turn out and if the young guys improve. But Thibs being available, McHale being fired and the possibility of the Rockets going after him...who knows? There has been no talk that I've seen about the Lakers being interested in Thibs, but they are usually pretty closed mouth about personnel and coaching changes.

So, all of that to basically say....I have no idea.

Yeah, I really thought that he'd be the guy who could come up with the proverbial "one last great season" but it seems like that just won't happen. He might be okay if we were talking about a recurring/nagging type of injury that kept flaring up. They would already know what to do about it and he could figure out how to compensate for it like he always has. But the last 3 seasons have been 3 different season ending injuries and now his back is acting up. His body is saying "No mas."

Thibs, Jeff Van Gundy, and Steve Clifford are the early front runners for the Rockets HC job.

What took them so long?

Lamar got hookers. James cried over Khloe. James hooked back up with Khloe

Dwight and James finally got around to getting him fired

The Rockets are 2 games better than the Lakers......that's just unacceptable.

Even with a new PG learning their system. This team is freaking loaded and after getting Lawson were the early faves to get to the Finals out of the West.

Defense wins championships. Thibs is a good match. Its not like Dwight is an offensive machine. Why is Harden playing so bad?

ummmm I don't see D Howard and him getting along all too well. Not at all.

Well, Howard may not last in Houston then.....because I think they hire him or maybe Scott Brooks. JVG is a retread and enjoying his gig and Clifford isn't much of an improvement over McHale....if at all.

Houston is clearly building that team around Howard, so I don't see them hiring a coach that doesn't fit him.

Howard needs a coach who is going to be super soft and very hands off. Thou Shall Not criticize Howard.

Again: As mean as it sounds, Lawson played better when he was drunk.

On one hand, this is terrific news. OTOH, it isn't McHale's fault Harden came into the season seemingly content and lazy.

Bring back JVG please.

After failing with McHale.....it think they are going to what's in the best interest of the team and that's getting a good coach.

Step 1 for any org is having the right coach. That said, most all out there is old coaches or past players who played better than they coach.

They only made the WCF last season because The Clippers choked and they added Lawson in the offseason.

Surprised they hired him after he failed in Minnesota, he's not a very good coach imo.
