In the last 10 games prior to this game...

Love: Averaged about 28 minutes a game. Committed 1.7 fouls per game. If Love averaged 32 minutes a game, he'd have committed 1.9 fouls per game.

Olynyk: Averaged about 16 minutes per game. Committed about 3.1 fouls per game. If Olynyk averaged 32 minutes a game, he would have committed about 6.2 fouls per game.

In other words, in the last 10 games, Olynyk would have fouled out EVERY SINGLE game around the mid-3rd quarter, by average.

"Clumsy oaf" would be a kind way of putting it. Goofball needs to be punished.

And let's not forget who the Celtics GM is. Danny Ainge was one of the very dirtiest to ever play the game. Picked fights nonstop and when the guy was bigger than him he tried to bite his finger off.

Boston is a bunch of scrubs and goons with a punkass kid for head coach.

Tons of players play extra aggressive and don't worry about fouls because they know they are only playing limited minutes.
Example on the Heat would be Birdman.

Sucks but we'll make it through the Bulls and Hawks without him. Just have him ready for the finals.

Then you've never had a dislocated shoulder and the pain that goes with it. Consider yourself lucky. Frankly I think they will be lucky to see him back for the Conference Finals or finals period if they make it that far and I would be surprised

I agree with this. I think that Cleveland is still the best team in the East, even without Love. Could really miss him in the finals, though, if he can't play or is at less than full strength.

As a Celtics fan I expected a game or two for Olynyk and expected at least two games for JR Smith and Perkins was lucky not to miss time with his antics. I don't think Olynyk was trying to hurt him but that is what ended up happening. It was a physical series both teams were pushing and shoving that's playoff basketball or at least it has been most of my life.

Just heard he's been suspended for the first game of next year. Personally, I agree with Barkley, who says that Olynyk shouldn't be punished, since he wasn't trying to hurt anyone.

I agree that Ainge was a notoriously dirty player. The "clumsy oaf", on the other hand, is just that.

I also disagree with his punk ass kid head coach. I don't think anyone other than Greg Popovich could have gotten the Celtics to the Playoffs.

LOL In case you don't know already, HammerDown gets perverse satisfaction from relentlessly trolling all things Boston.

Oh I know he does but that is just wrong Stevens and probably Popovich are the only coaches that could get the Celtics to the playoffs. They need one or two star players and they would be a legit team

Its seems like a strange announcement... considering we don't even know when the conference semis will start or end. Makes me think the reasoning is one of the following...

1) The injury is so severe that they can safely rule out anything in the next 3 weeks... meaning a comeback this year is in doubt.

2) They just want the Bulls thinking that but are hoping he can come back sooner

3) Love is concerned about coming back too soon with his pending free agency status and they mutually agreed to rule out next series and see where things are at that point.

I don't know - its all speculation - but its the only thing that makes sense to me.

I don't think he's coming back during these playoffs. Too important of an off-season for him to risk further damage.
