I'd do that deal it in a heartbeat.

Exactly. It’s a top 3 player and he is 26. If he stays in LA you have him for a long time if he stays healthy. If give up whatever they want

They mosf likely couldn’t sign Randle anyway if they want PG. adding Randle sweetens the pot but mayve adding him they could keep Wagner and a 1st
True...and I understand that it's Kawhi, but the whole team/draft pickS/taking on a bad contract is too rich for my blood

Problem with any Lakers deal is the draft pick they can offer is likely going to turn into a very late 1st round pick which does nothing for the Spurs when trading a top 5 player.

Boston on the other hand can offer that Kings pick which likely turns into a top 10 pick next year.

Lakers would need to give me all of their young players for me to accept a deal if I'm the Spurs

I heard LA is trying to acquire another 1st for that exact reason, not sure you can do better than some of those C’s picks though

Yep.

Getting Kawhi virtually guarantees getting Lebron which all but guarantees getting PG.

Even if PG doesn't come, they can preserve the cap space that would have used on him for next year.

If nothing else, the Spurs can package those picks and maybe a player for a higher pick.

If I'm the Spurs I would ask Boston for Brown, Smart, and the Kings first round pick

Worst case you have Kawhi and Lebron. 2nd best case you have another star as a rental for PG or some good role players as rentals. Kawhi and Lebron is as good of a duo you can do right now in the league.

That isn’t enough imo. Smart is overrated imo. Great defender no doubt.

I would want:

Kyrie/Brown (prefeably Brown), Rozier, Morris and 2 1st’s (Kings and Grizz)

That's basically what it's likely to cost. Which is fine.
At this point I get it, but sheesh man, we gotta look to keep atleast 1 assest imo

You have Ball. If you don’t give up Randle you can sign him possibly.

The thing is it leads to more than just Kawhi - to Lebron - PG13.

That trio makes up for all those young players x100

I wouldn't ask for Kyrie because he is going to opt out next summer. Would be a waste of time to trade for him since they can't really compete for a title this upcoming season

And there is no way (IMO) the C's do that for a rental...

... no offense, Shane, but I don't think you are accurately factoring in that we're talking about a rental here... you just see the great player's name and think teams should give up the whole farm.

Yeah I agree. Plus Brown is still on his rookie contract

I wonder if Boston would do a Rozier, Brown, Smart, and the Kings 1st round pick for Kawhi.

Spurs really need a PG

I get that but they aren’t getting him then imo. The Lakers can offer more, maybe not more picks but imo you never know what you get in picks.

Looking at this strictly from Lebron's perspective, if the lakers give up all their young guys for you and Kawhi, do you really think you can beat the Dubs 4 of 7 with you, Kawhi, and a bunch of role players?

I still think it is unlikely that anything happens this week unless the Lakers absolutely blow the Spurs away which I don't think they can do.
