"the Jayhawks have a rule prohibiting live mascots"
So, basically no mascots. Mostly live humans in costume. Or just not animals?
Its not just security, its room/board along the way, stress of traveling etc, its not livestock headed for the meat grinder so they have to care and not keep it on the road too long im guessing 1-2 stops overnight would be needed for the animal on the way there and back. ITs just silly when you think about taking a big ass live mascot on the roadI didn't know that BEVO traveled with the team in the
regular season?
I can't think of anybody that would take a live animal mascot
on a road trip. Maybe some of the teams with dogs, might.
I know that Tennessee has brought "Smokey" with them to
Kentucky.
But Horses and Cows and the whatnot involve a great deal
of security to protect those animals. If folks cannot protect
the Air Force Falcon from the Army cadets...I can't see Auburn
releasing that chicken hawk in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The
moment they turned him loose from the top of the end zone
50 fucking shotguns would be fired from the parking lot.
Maybe Kansas has banned BEVO but Texas would be crazy
to bring him to an away venue. Bowl games are ok, as long as
the bowl meets the needs of whatever mascot is being brought
there.
kansas hasn't even had a live player in a decade

I hear you there. The Rose Bowl wanted us to bring Renegade
out there. We had to drive him (4 days). A ranch or boarding
facility every night with a guard around him. (6 handlers and
deputies travel with him). 8 total days on the road, and we have
to pay the deputies and the handlers.
