Sty, you seem to be using statistics to prove a point at what you think will be the Redskins record this year but want to add some unknown or unmeasurable quantity to support your argument for Mack. Now knowing that you have been on Kerrigan's ass for the past couple of years I am thinking we need a bias factor in here. :D

Yeah, poor ole' me huh? Ole' Sty just can't get it that these two conversations are the exact same thing. A prediction based upon history, and determining a players value using the old eye test something that coaches everywhere do all of the time just can't be different.

In as much as Kerrigan goes, yeah, the guy is very, very, good, in fact one of the best statistically, but you're a coach, don't you watch players in practice and truly determine that this player is a bit or a lot better performer than that one? What statistic are you using during tryouts?, first day of spring practice?, during the lead up to your season? So yeah I do see his value statistically, but I also see his flaws and weaknesses. These are the unknown and unmeasurable aspects that I asked about. I tried to make that point when I included Manley v. Mann et. al.

Now, YOU of all people want to pretend that you don't know what I'm talking about. Don't do this, I truly value a person who's been there, done that, and has inside knowledge of the game, especially from a coaches perspective. While it's true that I may have some bias against Kerrigan, who doesn't when the question is who's the best in the game?

Our team has good players, some very, very good and among the best in the game, what we don't have are game changers, another something that can't be measured.

Sorry Sty, I see basically the same guy. You watch Kerrigan every game so you do see his warts as well as his strengths. When you watch any player on a regular basis you assess their value on everything they do. Now tell me you have watched every play of Mack's since he has been in the league. I only see Mack in highlights or the occasional game. Not enough to compare the two. What does that leave me with to measure them, statistics. I assure you I would not have paid him what the Bears paid him.

I also have the advantage of being here on a regular basis. You have been on Kerrigan's ass as long as I can remember. You aren't the only one. That's fine, you are entitled to your opinion. Many did the same with Cousin's. I see Mack as a very good player. I see Von Miller as a better player than Mack or Kerrigan. You asked me originally if I would take Mack over Kerrigan if all things were equal and I said yes but only because he is younger. Likely when he leaves here Kerrigan will be the Redskins all time leader in sacks. He is less than 2o sacks away. Had Cousin's stayed 6 more years he would have had just about every QB record. But many here didn't want him. I think those people were wrong in both cases.

Listen, Bears fans:

I get it. Your team has been spectacularly awful for years now. Brutal. Miserable. Jay Cutler bad.
Then, last year, they somehow magically became less painfully watchable then they usually are.

You're excited.

You think to yourself, "if they got a few new cb's, an olineman or two, a te, and maybe a few other depth pieces in free agency and then draft well, they could really do something!"

Then the Bears go out and spend a ridiculous amount of money on players you've heard of. You've seen. Robinson. Trey friggin Burton. Prince Amukamara. Kyle FULLER!!!!

AND they draft Roquan Smith!

You're thinking: this is good! This is REAAAALLLYYY GOOD!

Then, All Pro Kalil Mack happens. Kalil Freakin' Mack is a bear. KALIL. MACK. IS. A. BEAR.
You're ecstatic. You're praising all glory be to the football gods!!!!! THE BEARS ARE GOING TO BE GREAT!, you're shouting from your rooftops from Wrigleyville to Evanston!

But we skins fans know better. We've seen this rodeo before.

It won't end the way you think it will. Trust us.

Or not.

Hope springs eternal in September.
A Redskins fan talking trash... Either you are jealous or just ignorant.

jealous of what, exactly?

Overpaying for Kalil Mack?

Having to rely on free agent signees to make a difference for your team?

A mediocre quarterback?

Nothing to be jealous of. The Bears got fleeced, and are still the third best team in their division behind the packers and vikes.

Sorry.

I say fourth best.
