The Raiders defense is bad. I don't see them having a winning record this year. I don't see the Bears having a winning record this year. I know you are excited as a Bear fan but to make a move like this and give up a contract like this to a non QB you have to be a team like the Rams with Donald. The Rams are in a bad division and are a playoff caliber team already plus added Suh. Yes they gived up the big contract but they didnt have to give up a draft capitol

The thing is that Mack is better than 95-99% of the league's back-to-back first round picks combined if you look over just about any franchise's recent history. Pace as GM has hoarded cap space until now in Chicago. The Bears don't have a 100 million dollar QB on the pay roll and Trubisky won't be due for the until 3 years or so from now. When a huge portion of Mack's contract has been paid.

Everything lined up for the Bears to execute this.

Utter nonsense.

Point to the weakness in the Bears that validate the worry of losing ostensibly ONE first rd pick?

I know no one wants to believe it, but the Bears have quietly built a very good, young team.

Watch out en sech

Whether or not the Bears have a weakness (they have plenty) has little to do with whether or not the Raiders took them behind the woodshed and beat them like a rented mule on this trade (they did).

But since you're asking:
Trubinsky hasn't shown much, Robinson hasn't been good since 2015, Gabriel averages 400 yards a year, had thee of four years in which he caught 0 or 1 td, and that was while playing on a good team with a lot of weapons (Freeman, Coleman, Jones), White's done nothing ever, Miller's a rookie, and nobody fears Fuller or Amukamara, who has ALWAYS been beatable since his Giants days.

Just 2 extra All Pros and a DPOY. Pretty consensus top 3-5 defensive player in the NFL. But sure just the fans falling in love with him.

Good for him having one super year. His sack rate is one tenth lower than Kerrigan's but what the hell do I know. :trash:

Listen, Bears fans:

I get it. Your team has been spectacularly awful for years now. Brutal. Miserable. Jay Cutler bad.
Then, last year, they somehow magically became less painfully watchable then they usually are.

You're excited.

You think to yourself, "if they got a few new cb's, an olineman or two, a te, and maybe a few other depth pieces in free agency and then draft well, they could really do something!"

Then the Bears go out and spend a ridiculous amount of money on players you've heard of. You've seen. Robinson. Trey friggin Burton. Prince Amukamara. Kyle FULLER!!!!

AND they draft Roquan Smith!

You're thinking: this is good! This is REAAAALLLYYY GOOD!

Then, All Pro Kalil Mack happens. Kalil Freakin' Mack is a bear. KALIL. MACK. IS. A. BEAR.
You're ecstatic. You're praising all glory be to the football gods!!!!! THE BEARS ARE GOING TO BE GREAT!, you're shouting from your rooftops from Wrigleyville to Evanston!

But we skins fans know better. We've seen this rodeo before.

It won't end the way you think it will. Trust us.

Or not.

Hope springs eternal in September.

hmmmmwhaaa?

Didn't you ask for a weakness?

We get it. You like the Mack signing. Good for you.

The Bears got fleeced, and are still worse than the Packers and Vikings.

The truth hurts.

You like buckets of dicks?

Is that why you're bringing up your love of a bucket of dicks?

Hey, whatever gets you through, brother. I'm not judging.

Well that was fun.

Normally I come to the redskins message board to read the latest news from homer bear fans about how much they love dick buckets and/or Kalil Mack, but I think I've had enough for tonight....

He wasnt on Mack's level. I am also not sure where you're getting that Mack had one good season? And Haynesworth was a known head case. Mack is not.

Yea the contract is the biggest thing in favor of the picks. But the cap is pretty reasonable to play around with. And the odds of ending up with players worth as much as him is very low.

He absolutely was on that level. He was the most dominant interior lineman in the NFL.

EXCEPT, we don’t have the cap space to play around here.

Meh, if you look at it like this years first pick is Mack, you’re trading a first, third and sixth for a second (that’s most likely top of the round) and fifth. Clearly you lose that first, but you’re assuming the bears can draft a player (or two if you want to say it’s two firsts for Mack) that can dominate like Mack does. You have less than a 5% chance of drafting a player like Mack each pick. The chance gets lower the further back in the draft you get. Without mack, I don’t think the bears pick any higher than they did this year. Grabbing a Mack after 8 is unheard of.

Look at any tandem of first round picks you wouldn’t trade for Mack from each team from the last 5 years. The only team I can think of is the Rams with gurley and Donald.

Please, provide other examples for me. I got to be ready for the skeptics at work tomorrow.

Except...you aren’t.

Off the top of my head, players drafted after 8 include JJ WATT, Aaron Donald, Demarcus Lawrence, Calais Campbell, and Chandler Jones.

I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, I’m saying it rarely happens. You’re more likely to draft a bust than those guys.

Yeah, he's THAT good. I know that there are some who want to use comparative statistics, but that doesn't supply a full picture about players. How does one measure disruptiveness? How do we measure influence in making other players more effective? There are statistics and then there's the eye test, so based on what he brings beyond statistics, yeah, he's that good!

Sty, you seem to be using statistics to prove a point at what you think will be the Redskins record this year but want to add some unknown or unmeasurable quantity to support your argument for Mack. Now knowing that you have been on Kerrigan's ass for the past couple of years I am thinking we need a bias factor in here. :D
