To be fair, if Kaep has another shitty year he will have to drop $2Million from his 2015 salary. Funny thing is if Kaep sux again, dropping the $2M will put SF just under the cap if it ends up at $143 Million.
Maybe Baalke is expecting another lousy year from the biceps kisser to stay in line with the cap.
No matter, 13 million isn't a deal for Kaep. You got a link that explains this?

According to over the cap, he's going even make more next year.

The deal wasn't the problem. Considering the market for quarterbacks, I have no problem with the deal. And it does allow us some options to get out of it.

Yup, I took a lot grief when I said this wasn't going to turn out well for the 49ers. I don't think I was wrong.
Why don't you worry about that interception machine you guys have as a QB? As soon as Skittles takes his illiterateness elsewhere, Truffle will show his true nature, which is to throw errant passes when he has no running attack. Midge deserves 1 million a year for 20 years and not a penny more.

Yeah, you can cut him and ride with Gabbart.....or you could ride with a rookie out of this years draft.

Got any favorite QB targets in this draft?

However I hear you about the market for bum QBs, just look at the Bears.

If he isn't getting it done, then I don't have a problem with cutting him and going with a guy like Gabbert or an unproven rookie. Better to try something new if it isn't working, especially if it saves money. And again, the deal he signed allows us to do just that.

Yeah but we both know the 49ers won't do that. York still thinks the 49ers are contenders, so you got at least two more years of watching Kaep at QB.:heh:

The Kaepernick contract is very team friendly. It is almost too easy to get out of. I still think they signed this way too early. 9ers might have been brilliant. Maybe they were thinking he was going to be the real deal or quick bust - no reason to wait?????

:gaah: It's only friendly if they have another option and they don't.

You don't need a star QB to hold down last place.
It appears to be rebuilding time. What better opportunity to cut him if he continues with what he is doing?????

I don't know where you're getting any of that.

You keep saying that, but it doesn't make sense. They do have other options: Gabbert or an unproven rookie.

Neither of them are ideal, but there are options to play with here. If Kaep goes full retard, we can dump him, save money, and preserve the would-be salary casualties, making the team stronger at other positions.

If he plays terribly this year, I fail to see why you DON'T think he can be cut next year.

Simple, the 49ers have a lot talent on the team, thus they won't cut Kaep until they have a better option.

Really? That's your reasoning?

So if Kaepernick is the worst QB in the league next year, we still won't cut him? Better to pay lots of money to him than to pay an unproven commodity a fraction of what he's making?
