I don't think its intended to be insulting at all, but its still pretty lame. They aren't calling him a "baby" because of the way he acts or anything like that. Toronto's AHL franchise is often referred to as "The Baby Leafs". I'm pretty sure that is all they are getting at. But they certainly should have realized how this might be perceived.
