Strong has done alot with a little. Will be interesting to see what he can do with the quality of players he has with TexASS.

Totally agree, and that's what I'm counting on.

Just when things are kinda starting to look up, WHAM, we'll get whacked by a big comet or something.

The biggest question for Texas in 2014 is the QB position and how the next HC will react to it. Standing pat is not the solution, which is what Mack did last season. Ash was severely concussed in 2013 and it's my belief that he's been hiding the symptoms for years. I doubt he will be able to play in 2014 and if by some miracle he plays he won't finish the season. That leaves us with Swoopes, who will be a true soph with little playing time and true freshman Jerrod Heard who can play well in HS Championship games, but so did Garrett Gilbert(who was a bust).

I'm hoping Strong scours the JuCo ranks and gets a QB.

Little doubt that QB has been a huge problem for Texas since Colt McCoy graduated.

Strong isn't going to solve that problem in year 1. Recruiting QBs for 2014 is over.

Swoopes is maybe the answer, but Strong needs some time to sort out that roster of who wants to and can play. Who knows, he could pull a Malzahn like Auburn did this year? Not likely, but I think the biggest issues are OL and defense for Texas. You guys need to bring back some nastiness.

I wouldn't worry about your QB. Strong will get a good one eventually. Likely in the 2015 recruiting class. Get your OL and front 7 on D toughened up, and who knows? Bama and LSU have won a lot of games with very average QBs.

I think a couple of those big-time verbal commits just might switch to Texas to play for Strong...

Daniel Gresham was an early 3* RB commit to Texas and is currently a 'solid verbal' to Louisville. I'm betting he's a bit confused as to which school he'll sign with in Feb.

Actually the OL and DL are pretty solid for 2014, especially if Reed doesn't declare for the NFL. LBs need improvement.

So is he gonna run a pro style offense like in Louisville or will he run a spread?

Jeffcoats gone.

Brown shows some promise.

To be honest I wouldn't trade any of Nebraska's front 7 for what Texas has next year. Your LBs are embarrassingly bad regarding Texas standards.

Interested in seeing what OC he goes with. Don't really want Watson, the one at UL right now.

So far the talking heads are pretty much suggesting the same thing.

This Longhorn would be very happy with Charlie Strong as the next Longhorn HC.

This guy as well! :agree:

I either wanted Strong or Gruden to be the next HC. Our spoiled as hell football players are in for a rude awakening when Strong gets to The 40 Acres.......

I'm just not gonna be comfortable until this is over with. Have to cross the goal line. Got to get my mind off of it, go do something else.

I wanted Shaw or Strong. HATED the idea of Gruden, Mora, Briles, etc.

I'm quite happy right now. I think both Shaw and Strong have proven they can COACH, as well as recruit and develop talent.

I think Strong would be a better fit at Miami (may have an opening soon) or Florida (may have an opening next year). But for the immediate cash (Strong is set for life) he couldn't turn that down.

I've seen Strong listed as the 5th choice on Texas' hire list. Do you guys feel Texas settled rather than getting their #1?
