well, I think for your argument, should at least put up the coaching records of: Franklin, Mora, Briles, et al. I think we all know Saban's record. Would be kind of cool to see his record after his first 4 years of HC experience.

Otherwise to you point, meh.

Bad Hire, 37-16 as a HC.

Lots of HCs are 37-16
First off, one of his losses was as an interim coach for a meaningless bowl game at Florida in 2004.
He was actually 37-15 as a real head coach.

He inherited a freaking mess at Louisville.
Most of his losses came in the first 2 seasons when he busy rebuilding a last place team.
The team had 3 consecutive losing seasons before he got there at Louisville.

With mostly somebody else's players, he went 14-12.
With his own players, he went 23-3 the last two seasons.

And keeping score with the "other" coaches the last 2 years:
Jim Mora 19-8
Art Briles 19-7
Jimbo Fisher 25-2
Nick Saban 24-3
Gus Malzahn 21-4

You just crossed a line by comparing his record to coaches who play in tougher conferences. It's not even close to being the same thing. His last 2 years he has good records sure, but Louisville also has played some easy schedules as well.

They went 7-6 last time they played a decent schedule(2011).

This year they only had 1 loss, that was to UCF. But they barely made it past Houston(that Vandy beat by more), 7 point win over a horrible Memphis team and over Cincy as well.

He's done good with what he's had to work with, let's just leave it at that.

:wtf:

He doesn't need to. It's in the bottom left corner.

Yep, I realized that after I posted it. But SportsHoopla won't let you edit stupid out of your post after a certain amount of time. :L

LOL at people acting like the Austin media is hard on Texas football coaches. They coddled Mack until the day he retired. NOBODY in the Austin media attacks the guy who controls their access to the football program.

Why? Auburn has its peers and Louisville has its own. I never understood that logic. Just as hard to win the MAC with MAC recruits, as it is to win the SEC with SEC recruits. Ask Saban. SEC has been the easiest stop in his career

The best is LHN. How hard is it to be interviewed when you provide the questions? It is a propaganda network. It is the easiest media he will ever deal with

Plus was known to may or may not call radio stations that were criticizing him and the Horns and possibly even get people fired over it.

Downplaying a W-L record because the competition was weaker is silly.
You have to look at his team's resources and program traditions as well.

He won with Louisville level recruiting/facilities versus similar teams.

If a D-2 coach dominates D-2 scheduling, it doesn't mean he is a bad coach because he is playing D-2 teams.

I don't think Texas really cares what the W/L records are. They are looking at the man and how he runs his program.

Hell Royal was 11-9 the 2 years before he got the Texas job. Akers was 10-13.

Maybe they made a good hire, maybe not. Only time will tell.
I'm hoping not personally.

They could have done a lot worse.

By your logic every highschool coach who has success at that level should make great NFL coaches.
