Having so many young kids watch this live yesterday will really inspire the next generation of baseball fans.

Oh, that's right, no kids watched it. It was on so late and on a subscription only network.

My bad.

.
If you're a Yankee fan or a bigtime baseball fan just let the kids stay up a little later. I think when I was growing up in like the 1980's the games all started at 735 and now most places have moved them up to 705 or 645 in some cases.
Although I like to think that the grandson of some kid who used to lie in bed with the covers over his head listening to games on a transistor radio is lying in bed, after his bedtime with the covers over his head following Judge's at bats on ESPN scores. But let's be honest, he's probably looking at ****.

Don't forget Maris had an asterisk because of the extra eight games - it was the first year they played 162 games instead of 154.

Judge is at 60 and the Yankees have only played 147 games.

Hope Judge (.316) stays hot to beat out Bogaerts (.315) and Arraez (.314) for batting title and first Triple Crown in 55 years (Yaz, 1967).

He'd be the first Yankee to do it since Mantle in '56
Just occurred to me that the only non-steroid guys to get to 60 HRs (assuming Judge is clean which we can never be 100% sure about anyone) have been Yankees (Ruth, Maris, Judge). Probably something to do with the ballpark.

Yankee Stadium was a lot bigger in Ruth and Maris' days. But they were also lefties which is a huge advantage in Yankee Stadium.

But I just looked it up and Judge's has 30 HR's at home and 30 in the road. His numbers are actually a tad higher on the road

Yeah it has to help some. But it's weird when you look at the Home/Road splits of the guys that have had big homerun seasons it doesn't seem to line up the way you think it would.
San Francisco seems like it would be a tough place but Bonds hit more at home that year.
Stanton somehow hit more in Miami than on the road in his 59 hr year.
Judge is now sitting on 30 home 30 road.
McGwire hit more at home in his biggest seasons. I don't know where Busch Stadium stood overall those seasons but I do think it is better for right handers.
Sosa hit slightly more at home.

Maris was 30 home 31 road as well. I guess you have to consider how the way the opponents strategize as well. Like in Maris' case I'd guess some teams would try to make sure their lefty pitchers got starts when they went to Yankee Stadium.

Judge is the only pure righty of the bunch. It's not as far to his pull field as it was in Mantle's day, and he's hit a good number to the opposite field, but a righty putting up these HR #s there is still damn impressive.

preview for tonight: Judge vs Michael Wacha 0-14 9 ks, 1 BB

I'm still predicting he takes him deep, but only once.

Just hit #61. 2-run shot, no doubt about it. Yankees lead 5-3 in Toronto.

Now, lets see if he can get 16 more total bases to get to 400 for the season. I'd like to see it.
