I guess we'll find out. Is 61 the American League record too? Sosa, Mcgwire and Bonds were all in the NL when they had those crazy years but I forget if someone else did it. Like maybe A-Rod with the Rangers or something?

I neglected to mention Sosa earlier. He is the only player with three 60-HR seasons; 66 in '98, 63 in '99, 64 in 2001.

He's always denied using PEDs but the New York Times reported in 2009 that Sosa did test positive for a performance-enhancing drug in an a 2003 conducted by the MLB that allowed players to remain anonymous. Seems suspicious either way.

McGwire hit 70 in '98 and followed that with 65 in '99. Bonds did 73 in 2001 then must have eased off the PEDs in '02 and declined to 46.

My favorite story with Rizzuto was a Bill Veeck story. After he brought in Eddie Gaedel (a midget) to draw a walk (he told Gaedel "I have a sniper on the roof, you swing and you're dead"), the league made a rule banning midgets from playing. Veeck complained "what about Phil Rizzuto?"

He also got caught using a corked bat one time, but he said it was an accident. (he meant to just use it in batting practice to entertain the crowd or something). I would not believe much of anything any of those 3 guys said about PEDs.
