Aaron Judge hit his 50th HR on August 29 and needs 11 to tie Maris's Yankee record of 61. Maris nailed his 50th on 8/22/61 and 61st on 10/01/61.

Judge has hit 6, 12, 11, 13, and 8 HRs April thru August 29. He has 33 remaining games to do it.

I think he'll get it. Also I didn't know Rizzuto was an announcer in 1961. He must have gone straight from the field to the booth.

Rizzuto played till 1956 then began his 40-year broadcasting career in 1957. Holy cow.

My favorite story with Rizzuto was a Bill Veeck story. After he brought in Eddie Gaedel (a midget) to draw a walk (he told Gaedel "I have a sniper on the roof, you swing and you're dead"), the league made a rule banning midgets from playing. Veeck complained "what about Phil Rizzuto?"

I guess we'll find out. Is 61 the American League record too? Sosa, Mcgwire and Bonds were all in the NL when they had those crazy years but I forget if someone else did it. Like maybe A-Rod with the Rangers or something?
