RW...True, they wisely don't ask him to carry the load, but being honest, did you think he would even be this good?

LOL I did read it -- right before I highlighted and called it "interesting". I think it is a reasonable acknowledgment that as fans we can form opinions about how a particular might perform in the NFL, but our opinions might well be wrong. How many teams who would now love to have RW as their QB passed on him on draft day? If all of those teams were wrong in their evaluations of him, then it seems pretty obvious to me that the typical NFL is likely to incorrectly evaluate a given prospect.

QB is toughest position really to evaluate from college to pro and it's even harder now that so many schools are running the read option type OFC.

Likely to incorrectly...That stereotypical stature standard does eliminate some guys right away in the minds of many scouts/GMs and fans...but it's not always stature...I thought Cam was going to be a very slow study coming into the league because of the OFC he ran @ AUB, he proved to be a much better passer than I expected.

The draft is a crap shoot pretty much, when you think about it...more highly drafted QBs eventually failed than succeed so when you're not 6'+ with a canon it just adds another strike against you. Every 5 to 10 years a player that breaks the mold will surface.

Russell Wilson has proved nothing. He's been a decent game manager for the best defense in the league with a beast of a RB.

Yeah, every "decent game manager" throws for 50+ tds in their first two years with no real targets to brag about.

He hasn't carried anyone and he hasn't won anything. He's not evidence of anything yet.

Oh I know, Lynch has run for 150+ in every win.

RW has obviously had a pretty big benefit of playing with a pretty good RB and a very good defense. He is also very intelligent, is very athletic and works very hard. He is a good QB and seems to be getting better. Would he not look as good without the RB and defense? Probably not, but that's true for everybody.

But he has certainly shown he can make read the defenses, avoid pressure, has pocket awareness, an accurate arm to make pretty much any throw you can ask a qb to make and the work ethic to get better every year.

I don't think he's Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Brady league yet. But he's certainly pretty good. I think all those qb's have had adversity to overcome and play well (overall, everyone has a bad game now and again) in all sorts of conditions. I don't know that RW has had that yet, but I'm betting he has all the physical and mental tools to make that leap from very good to elite qb in this league.

ETA: I don't think Manziel has those same qualities. I think he gets by on talent alone in college and he's going to find the talent level is a lot better across the board in the NFL. He'll make some highlight reels, but I don't think he has the rest of what is needed to put in the time and work to be very good in the NFL. I'm not even sure his skill set transfers well to the NFL other than gimmick and high light plays, but not the consistency that will get you to the playoffs and win games.

Manziel is a smaller and faster version of Romo. He does not remind me of Tebow whatsoever. I think he will need to be coached up. I can see him throwing lots of picks if he is not reingned in.

Escapability and extending the play. He'll have to reign in some of the gun slinging in the pros but I look forward to seeing him try.

He might be worth the pick in the third round, but that's still probably a reach. If he goes top 5 someone's retarded.

well, i'm not necessarily sold on the guy as a high pick either but i'm hearing he may be a top 5 or top 10 pick. someone may be so desperate for a qb that they would take a chance.

Most scouts have felt his passing has improved which is why he almost universally is regarded as a 1st round pick (some disagreeing where exactly in the 1st round though). You are thinking of last year. Combine that with teams being desperate for QB's and it is not at all irrational to expect Manziel to go very early in the draft.

I expect if he's still on the board, he'll be drafted by Jerruh Jones of the Cowboys. Hell of a PR move for starters and he's got to be thinking ahead about a replacement for Tony Romo.

Do you realize how much they'd have locked into the QB position? Lots of dead money too.

Top 12, like I said. He's been climbing the charts and his passing has improved after last season. Some will argue that he should have won the Heisman again, and I was in favor of that. But that's not the point. Manziel improved on a lot in his game and with the right mindset, he can be a succesful NFL QB.

LOL I really like watching Manziel play. Then again, I also liked watching Tebow play in college. They are both gamers!

I loved watching both in collage and liked tebow in the pros. I hope Johnny Football gets taken by a ny team
