It’s because by going for 2 they would make it an 11 point game, meaning with one more 2 point conversion after a TD, a FG would tie it.

You would still need two touchdowns to win it even if you made the extra point so why not go for 2 to be a touchdown and a field goal down instead…. If you miss the attempt, still need 2 touchdowns to win
