Great post!
You were right earlier also. Chicago AM radio was a lot of fun to listen to tonight.
I haven’t done the proper research to say for certain, but I’m somewhat confident that Mahomes and Peyton Manning are the only Top Ten picks this century, to win a SB as the starting QB with the team that drafted them.
And we have to go back to Aikman to get to the third one. (Big Ben was 11, Eli and Elway were traded for). Not really sure how far we have to go to get to 4. Maybe Bradshaw? Maybe I’m forgetting somebody, idk.
It’s not the path to success that’s it’s treated as by GMs.
Flacco and Eli come to mind. Eli was traded for, but he wouldn't play for San Diego.
I think the reality of "giving up the farm" to get your guy is a very bad idea. Take a look on here and people are killing Trey Lance, I bagged on Chicago for the Trubisky deal and I didn't really pay that much attention to the other teams outside the NFC North that did the same thing, but I think giving up that other capital is usually the killer cost that most people dismiss. I'll also admit that I wasn't happy that the Packers moved up to draft Love, I didn't like giving up the capital because the draft is too much of a crap shot to give up your chances with the dice. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the statistics will back me up. Giving up that additional capital is a killer to your team over time.
I'm listening to 670 the score now and so far they're kind of sane, but it's early as he's on for 6 more hours. Too bad I have to work in 10 1/2 hours.
Haha...Bears have lost 12 in a row and have given up at least 25 in all of them. They just stated that on the radio and that kind of solidifies my thoughts about giving up the draft picks...especially those in rounds 1 thru 3.
