The 80's all over again.![]()
I'd be cool with that, although I'd hope for more than 1 title. But, I'm a Philadelphia fan -- I'll take what I can get.

Billy King felt that Isaiah Thomas was getting to much recognition as the worst GM of all time. He wanted to take the title from him.
I dunno.
Im not sure if i would do it- but i think an offer of Randle, Clarkson and the Houston 1st rounder would at least make Indiana consider Paul George.
I dunno - i gotta think the Lakers pick is gonna be Ball. - but can Russell start next to ball? thats the question. If they draft Ball- the PG position is his. Thats for sure.
Jackson is probably the better fit---- but when you need so much help- you take best player available- and i think thats Ball if Fultz is off the board.
So how soon will we be hearing "I'm taking my talents to Beantown" from Lebron?
Good post. I'm thinking that Magic may do some type of trade for PG13 (or maybe Butler -- or another vet All-Star) for a few reasons. (get better more quickly, don't want to deal with Ball -- who also has limitations in his game, and Ball/Russell don't seem to fit)
I don't see Ball/Russell as incompatible.

Isiah Thomas was pretty terrible with his trades, but his draft evaluating of players was actually pretty great. Here are his draft picks that he made:
...
He also put an entire basketball league out of business. (CBA) Bet no other team Exec has that on their resume.
If the 76ers win 25 games next year, it'll be a huge disappointment. If everyone is healthy, I don't see how they aren't in the mix for the playoffs. Brooklyn, Orlando, New York are a mess. Detroit is not very good. Indiana and Chicago should be on their way downward either this season or next. Charlotte, Atlanta? I don't know. Toronto will fall a bit if Lowry leaves.
My hope is that they have a Bucks-type year next season -- 40-ish wins and look solid in the playoffs with maybe a chance to win in the first round.
Isiah Thomas was pretty terrible with his trades, but his draft evaluating of players was actually pretty great. Here are his draft picks that he made:
With the Raptors
1995: Damon Stoudamire, Jimmy King
1996: Marcus Camby
1997: Tracy McGrady
With the Knicks
2004: Trevor Ariza (2nd Round)
2005: Channing Frye, David Lee, Dijon Thompson
2006: Renaldo Balkman, Mardy Collins
2007: Wilson Chandler
He had only one bad draft in 2006, which in his defense was a pretty weak overall draft too. There were 3 notable players taken after Balkman which were Rondo, Lowry and Millsap. After that there weren't any serviceable NBA players.
I'm not arguing he's wasn't a bad GM, just saying his player evaluations were good. Like Scot Mccloughan, great at player evaluations, not so great at other things.
How does that translate to "pretty great" draft evaluation?
Eddie Curry ?
James Jones for $30M ?
Jarrod Jeffries for $30M ?
What do you not understand by me saying DRAFT SELECTIONS?
So he is good at evaluating college players ... but not NBA players (with a track record) ?
How does that work ?
In 7 NBA drafts (with 11 picks) he selected a Hall of Famer player(McGrady), 2x Allstar (David Lee), a Defensive player of the year and 4x blocks leader (Camby), 3 career starters, including one from the 2nd round (Stoudamire, Chandler and Ariza) and a very servicable fringe starter/role player in Channing Frye.
That's a great draft track record by any standards.
Sorry. I'm not impressed. I'm not saying he was bad but I don't think I'd ever call those results "great." McGrady was a great pick, as was Lee. The others are uninspiring.
Did you see the Hinkie banner to up?...lolFix your spelling ... or the PG from Celtics will be pissed.
"Isiah Thomas" was the worst GM of all time.
Danny really cashed out at the right time. Most GMs/Execs would have tried to squeeze 1 more year out of older HOFers.
Sam Hinkie for Exec of the Year.
....and it's entirely possible to be utter shit at both.Everyone would probably agree that Daryl Morey is probably one of the top 5 GM's in the NBA right now right? Since he's been hired in 2007 he's made 24 Draft Selections. Here are the noteable ones:
Carl Landry
Nic Batum
Patrick Patterson
Marcus Morris
Chandler Parsons
Clint Capela
That's it.
It's entirely possible for a great GM to not have as great success in drafting, but a wizard with trades.
