AUSTIN, Texas -- Bill Powers will continue to serve as the University of Texas at Austin president. The UT System Board of Regents adjourned their Thursday meeting with no action taken on the matter of Powers' employment.

Mack Brown wasn't the only one at UT trying to keep his job.

You should check out the article Doyel wrote at CBS about the way that Texas has botched the handling of this in the media and the running joke its becoming. It was a pretty good read(to me, you might not think so) but he fells its a foregone conclusion that Mack is gone too. He also feels that some top names will use Texas as a raise point and you may end up looking at a fourth or fifth option on your list of candidates due to the apparent turmoil at Texas among its boosters and administration.

After the way A&M fired Sherman, I can't say anything. It was a complete joke that someone leaked the results and Sherman heard about it over the radio. Maybe you longhorns can one up the Aggies on firing coaches.

I agree Bandwagonbo. It looks like us Texas folks got a mess on our hands.

On the other hand, we get one more year of hope, of hoping it will all turn around. Of course, if it doesn't, it will be too late to go after your coach. The time, if there was even the tiniest bit of a chance, for that is gone, gone, gone.

My thoughts are that Saban was never going to leave anyway and what he has said all year is how he feels. Who knows, stranger things have happened and he could still leave if this is all a farce story and the signing hasnt happened yet. I have to feel that him confiding to AJ McCarron that he wasnt leaving was the truth because he loves that boy like a son and has said so on more than one occasion. He is actually in New York with him and his family this weekend sharing in the Heisman and other awards ceremonies that are taking place, that says alot about the bond they share.

Sadly i think this may be happening no matter what. AS long as the school is divided on itself via the Admin, Boosters and BoR, the problems are much deeper than on the field coaching.

yeah it's looking like a grand clusterfuck in Austin. Mack always said passing DKR's record didn't matter to him. Now, it looks like it really does matter to him.

I don't think so either Charlie, but why stay on any longer at this point? Patterson appears to be a puppet on a string. Not surprising since I don't think the "good ole boys" club would hire someone they couldn't control. The whole thing is started to become a joke. I still say Mack will end up being hated before he's done. He has run this program into the ground.
