Looking at next years schedule. We should see what Riley is like fairly early.
BYU and Miami should be a reasonable gauge to see how he reacts to situations and how he adjusts as the game progresses.I m pretty stoked already.

Those 2 games are gonna be a bitch.

It is really difficult to take 19 year old kids and completely turn their mindset from one leader to another in that short of a period of time.

Yeah. We really don't know how bad things are messed up down there.

Texas lost 5 of their first 8 games after Strong took over. BYU clubbed them 41-7.

On top of that there's no assurance that Riley is even a guy who can put all the pieces together for elite football. It's not like he has Saban/Meyer credentials. For all we know it's just nice guy Bo.

I realize Riley had a couple of upsets in his 14 years at Oregon St, but it's Oregon St and teams tend to overlook them. Players may have seen an easy win and took the week off, etc... You know it happens. Nobody overlooks a program like Nebraska. Opponents bring their A game.

How long are we really going to give riley. 3-5 years. And then he is looking to retire or is pushed out. Regardless its not for long term and to be back in a coaching search again in five years makes me sick. This hire was simply someone to replace Bo. I dont see us getting back to championship level with this staff.

FWIW the staff isn't even complete. Probably won't be filled out until after the bowls are done.

Nobody really knows for sure what the outcome will be. We can only observe and hypothesize.

I just don't expect better than 7 wins in year 1.

I believe we can do better, I just don't expect it.

I am the most negative one on this board concerning the coaching changes and the mindset of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. I am prepared for the worst. I have drastically lowered my expectations.

Bo shitting the bed in recruiting the first 3 years really exposed the lack of coaching down the stretch of the Pelini era, we'll be better in the developing dept but if we're not winning its going to be tough to convince the top players come here, pretty much the same vicious circle we've been up against when we're getting the doors blown off in almost every big game for the last whatever many years

Be that as it may Mr MR seems to have an angle in the recruiting that's giving it some needed spark

HP, we cannot get someone on that level.

Chip Kelly wouldn't have even left Oregon for Nebraska. Even if we offered him $10 million a year.

A guy like that has much bigger fish to fry. Nebraska isn't even on anybody's radar anymore.

What am I missing RA

The teams performance is really going to be based upon the mindset of the players.... If we have dissension in the ranks, and Riley sends some key players packin' like Strong did, we could easily go down the tubes. If Riley & crew can win over the teams psyche and produce an all out effort (which we haven't had in some time), from the players 100% of the time, we'll be just fine
