Is there anything worse than being a Knicks fan?

They did make 2 Finals appearances at least, and were pretty good for about 15 years from the early 90s through the Sprewell/Houston era.

Nets went to 2 finals in that same time period. Probably not as consistently good but not much less so.

Which makes them much better than the Clippers. Clippers just had a recent upswell that topped out in some second round exits. How many other franchises have had their owner forced out of the league? Only the Reds come to mind...

Being a Knicks, Mets and Jets fan right now must be pretty damn bad.

The Clippers never even pretended to try with the previous ownership.

The Knicks are certainly trying. They are just really bad at it.

Yeah, but that's part of what is so bad with the Knicks. I mean, at least Clippers fans can use "Sterling didn't care about winning, just money" as their reason.

Knicks fans have an owner who can't figure out how to get out of his own way and keeps throwing good money after bad.

I mean, maybe you sign Tim Hardaway Sr. to a contract like that...but not Jr. :L

I am blown away by the Hardaway contract. Why in the world did they feel they had to do that? They go beyond competing with themselves. They seem to start a bidding war with themselves.

The Knicks have a world-famous arena and banners that aren't for division wins.

That Harden extension is worse. 6 years, 228M? Paying $40M+ at age 33 is going to be a tough pill to swallow after 5 more years without a ship.

That makes a heck of a lot more sense to me than Hardaway.

He's a premier player who COULD win a championship. He probably won't but Houston is going to be better with Harden than without him. He'll be in his early 30s when that contract expires.

As I said, the Clippers never even tried to be good for a very long time.

I don't see him winning a championship unless he isn't the lead dog. That contract pretty much guarantees he is.

Everyone tries. Few succeed.

I disagree. Some owners are more interested in make money than winning championships.

How many owners would be willing to do what the Sixers just do, for instance?

they probably won't win a championship. They don't keep Harden and they definitely don't.

It almost makes the Deng and Mozgov contracts not look so bad....almost. :L

Yeah. The big difference between those contracts and this one is that everyone went crazy with the salary cap last year.

This contract isn't even the worst contract on the Knicks. Noah holds that honor. At least Hardaway will contribute some. Noah might need to be bought out at nearly 100%.

He's a negative value player taking up roster space with 3 years left on about an 18 mill per year contract.

I know. But I hadn't even considered that he'd have to be bought out at nearly 100%. That would be a painful check to have to write.

I wonder if they could stretch him?

The problem is that the Knicks have no leverage on him. He's likely done after this contract.

The only chance they have is if he simply doesn't want to deal with the grind anymore.
