Apparently in an interview back in Slovakia, Lubomir Visnovsky said he's considering an offer from at least 1 KHL team & an offer from a team in his homeland.

Visnovsky is under contract for 1 more season in the NHL. If he signs to play overseas do the Isles get their 2nd round pick back or are they SCREWED like I think they are?

I've got to admit Garth really did it this time. He might have acquired a player without knowing whether that player will play for his team. Only the Islanders.:L

I believe that the Isles will still lose the pick but will retain his NHL rights only. Sucks for the Isles if it's the case. I really have enjoyed watching their games against the Flyers the past season or 2 because the Isles have put together a real high energy group.

Speaking of which are you guys totally ignoring Parenteau or is he not as good as the games I saw hime play?

The reason Parenteau will be available on July 1st isn't money, it's the length of the contract. Parenteau wants a 5 year deal. Apparently the Isles were only willing to give him 3 years like they did with Moulson. Montreal is the favorite for his services.

I'm not sure I really understand the Isles thoughts on contracts anymore. At 29 Parenteau signing for 5 years makes a lot of sense as he's put up 50+ pts in 2 season for a team that while it isn't starving for offensively talented players has struggled at times. The other good thing is 5 years leaves him at 34 and he can resign someplace without it being a 35+ contract(which may be the worts things to have in the NHL currently). Then there's the fact the the Isles seems to have a hard time attracting FA's.

There aren't many things the Isles do that make sense. The owner is more worried about his bottom line than whether or not the team wins. The GM is his puppet.

Actually, come to think of it I'm pretty sure the NHL and KHL came to some sort of agreement because of Radulov. I know he needed permission to return the NAshville this year from his KHL team, so maybe I'm wrong.

Is the agreement between just the NHL & KHL or all the pro leagues through the international hockey council thing though?

Asking cause I can't find it through google if anyone knows.

The Islanders woke him up at 2 AM in the morning in Slovakia so he could do an interview for their draft party. Talk about Ridiculous.

This stuff came from an interview he gave back in Slovakia. If he's said he wants to play for the Islanders it's news to me. I hope it was just a misunderstanding in the translation.

the recent quote was:

@StapeNewsday Isles Lubomir Visnovsky, ready to come to camp and play. "This is my first choice, to play for the Islanders."

NEWSDAY’S Arthur Staple reported the following on Twitter earlier today regarding Islanders newly-acquired defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky: “Just got off the phone w/*‪#Isles‬*D Lubomir Visnovsky. Ready to come to camp and play. “This is my first choice, to play for the Islanders.” Apparently, the Slovakian report appeared before the trade, and was asked if he would join the KHL or play for a Slovakian team if there were a lockout. Staple also reported Visnovsky knows he’s got a year left on his NHL contract and would only play in Europe next season if there’s a lockout.
