I think Mariota will struggle with a pro system and Winston is going to have to deal with too many vices that come along with having a lot of money. Winston's career will probably be similar to Josh Freeman's.

Like I said somewhere else, Mariota's career will mirror that of Leinart. Mediocre enough in his rookie deal to play backup somewhere for another season, then get invited to someone's camp and cut. 5 yrs from now he'll be in Hawaii with millions of the Titans dollars.

It may be the homer in me but I think Mariota can be a better than average NFL QB. This of course comes with the caveat that he stays healthy which, given the team that drafted him, may be challenging. I feel he has the mind and tools to do well in the pros if he can stay upright.

I can't speak too much about Winston, I live in Japan and seeing Oregon games alone is challenging. I will say if he can't grow up and learn to beat least modreately responsible the league will chew him up and spit him out.

Florida state and oregon both have a rich history of producing NFL QB's that go on to long, successful careers.

Both are being thrown to the wolves on bad teams. I'd say less than a 10% chance either is any good in two years.

I chose Mariota, but I agree with you. I think Mariota's mobile style will be hard to conform to the Titans offense and the NFL pocket passer formula. Like you said, Winston will fit better in the NFL schemes, but I see him getting into trouble down the road.

I think it would be wise to take a page from Jerry Jones' book and get him some handlers like he did for Dez Bryant and how he's approaching Randy Gregory. If they think he's their future at QB what's a few hundred thousand as insurance to make sure he stays on the field?

I don't have enough confidence to vote...both have gone to struggling teams.

That said...I felt from the outset that Winston was the better pro prospect...if Mariota had gone to PHI...he might've had more short-term success because they would run his college OFC.

TB...they have better weapons, but OL is still a work in progress. If that group comes together quickly...the Bucs I think will be a better team than TN...but it might be in spite of Winston.

I voted Winston. He's a much better prospect than most people give him credit for IMO.

I would have a lot more belief in Mariota if he could actually throw a football like a typical 1st round QB. But he can't. It's sad that the guy who went #2 overall ceiling is Colin Kaepernick without the arm strength.

Homer in me picked Winston. Man, I hope he does well but concerned about him getting into trouble.
