I like this idea, I would perhaps show some love to the defensive side of the ball.

The idea of past to present players is good, but that might alienate fans who don't feel like their team gets represented by one of the legends.

How about you just put a Lombardi Trophy in front of the NFL Shield in the middle, and then put all of the AFC team logos to the left, and all of the NFC team logos to the right.

I don't think anybody would be offended that their team doesn't have a representative. I'd probably put a lineup of the NFL greats, from left to right, in chronological order. Not sure how many you could fit.
