Losing Maxwell was a much bigger deal. This guy was like the 8th best player on defense (if that) before Maxwell left so now I guess I'd bump him up to 7th. And how the hell does he know? He's just shooting out of his ass. If he isn't then there's obvious tampering going on (which there isn't, because I doubt anybody is drooling over the chance to pick up Irvin). Quinn obviously knows how to use him but he'd be drooling over Wagner.
losing unger and gaining a guy in graham who blocks like he wears high heels is a bigger problem.

Obviously. That has nothing to do with Bruce Irvin. Losing Maxwell was a big hit as well. We still got a ton of studs though. Seattle isn't resigning him because there's no way he's worth 8 million a year.

oh, hes not. hes a bust if you ask me....and really a specialist.

see, the pats just go and reload and win the division just about every year, 12-4...13-3, what have you.

seattles got their first real personnel challenges coming now. it will be interesting to see if they can do what they modeled themselves after...which, if youre a seattle fan...you know they modeled after NE.

You throw thousands of words at people to suggest people should research more on one topic and then make a blind comment here yourself. Love me some hypocrisy. Really. Always fun.

Irvin is upset because his option wasn't picked up.
Then the team drafted a guy possibly more suited to perform his role than he is in their first draft slot.

How is that a sign of a crumbling team? The FO is obviously done trying to make him into the Leo role they had originally envisioned him for when they drafted him and are ready to move on. His whining on it doesn't mean anything about the team locker room or anything else. It's nothing more than a jilted lover saying 'yeah, well I never loved you anyway'.

I would be surprised to see him still play out this year on the team.

Hmm, I saw no other mention of Irvin basically crying over the team bailing on him.

Your premise was this is a sign of the run being over and it clearly is not. Point out whatever other signs you want as we were told the same thing last year over and over and those too never came to pass. Doesn't change your premise being false for this thread based on lack of information.

Losing bruce irvin isnt a big deal the two main seahawk players im worried about at this point is obviously Russell Wilson then Bobby Wagner, Irvin really is just an average LB that reached his ceiling

They'll resign Wilson and use the franchise tag to mess with Wagner. I have a feeling that things could get ugly on that front.

And that's why I don't think he's going anywhere this year. Irvin playing for a big contract is worth more than that 6th or 7th rounder (maybe a 5th on a good day) we would be likely get in return.

Clearly he's worth more than his trade value because of the lame duck FA position.

You get two type of lame duck players...you can get the Mike Wallace (already proven FA to be)...I'm damn sure not going to get hurt and spoil my big payday player....or you can get the Emmanuel Sanders (trying to prove themselves FA to be) I need to show the league what I can really do type player.

But...if Irvin was truthful in wanting to play in ATL in '16...it really makes sense for ATL to wait until he's a FA...why give up any picks.

Irvin was drafted to be a Leo and after years of trying to get him to be this hybrid position type the Seahawks scheme relies on so much it's been just a bust. He has had moments of playing at a high level, but he is far too inconsistent to be a Leo. Because of it he has been relegated to just being an average OLB.

No one knows if Clark can develop into that hybrid role, but they have better options than Irvin already at LB which is why the team isn't picking up his option.

His crying in the media only furthers what a great decision they are making moving forward. Trade him now and be done with it.

He's still signed for this season. If he pouts and puts in minimum effort, it's going to only hurt his payday next year. If he wants to leave for Atlanta next year, go for it. Especially if they grossly overpay like the Eagles did with Maxwell. He's a B grade player whose demanding A grade. Let someone else hurt their cap with that.

Goofballs can make this out to be more than it is (actually thank god for it to get us off the other stupid subject), but the truth is Irvin could be off the team tomorrow and the D would keep rolling along. He's a "good" player but certainly not the center of gravity for what we do on that side of the ball. Keep him this year while he's motivated to make big bucks, and that's better than what we would get in a trade right now.

What he was really saying is "I hope some idiots sign me for way more than I'm worth next year"

yeah

and you havent won since, you lost another starter and there are already whispers your QB may go soon.

then theres skittles...

like i said, as a fan of the "6 trips since 2001" pats, ive seen this movie.
seeing as the patriots lost both of their starting corners and no starting QB for four games, I assume you have little hope for the patriots getting back to the Superbowl?

The talking heads still have the Seahawks as the top of the class in the NFC. Many of those same talking heads don't even have the patriots as the team to beat in their division.

Losing Irvin is about as big a deal as the Cardinals losing Dockett. It will have very little impact on how their defense performs. It only hurts from a depth perspective.

Whether he leaves or stays it is just mind numbingly stupid to announce that you want to play for another team when you still have 8 or more games to play in front of your current team's fans. They can make that last year real uncomfortable .

Disagree. What do you base your opinion on.
