We don’t have Jokic and we don’t get beyond the second round.

I said to give Jokic the coach of the year because the fact that he’s not a coach wasn’t relevant to me because the award is not relevant to me since 1999 when Karl Malone won the most valuable player, which I didn’t really think he deserved that year.

They never gave it to Jerry Sloan, they didn’t give it to Gobert because of voter fatigue in 2020.
He still has 3, because of 2021. Very few get 3. So voter fatigue from 2020 is cancelled in 2021.

You just said Malone didn't deserve MVP in 1999. So then who deserved it?

His MVP in 1999 wasn't a lifetime achievement award. It was a MVP for that season. He was voted the best.

Malone deserve to MVPs. Thought maybe they should’ve given it to him over Jordan the year before, but since that was last Jordan Bulls season kind of worked out. so if I were to really, really decide on it, I would say that he deserved it in 99. Nothing would make me actually think he didn’t deserve 2 for his career.

Good. I think we agree then.

As for Sloan, I'll look it up sometime, but I don't think the Jazz had a top 2 league record during most of his years.

Here's a Nuraman Thread project. From Layden's last year, until now:

1). How many times has the coach of the year winner had a top two league record?
2). How many times did the Jazz have a top two league record?

@MHSL82 is allowed to do the research and answer this too. :)

It looked like he expected it. Unfortunately, it seemed like the defender did too. The point of those type of passes is when the defender doesn’t know it’s going there. I mean, the player who received the pass look like he went to go up but someone was there. That would’ve been a “brilliant” play if that defender wasn’t there. Of course, you would need to decide on whether to make that pass based on whether that defender would be there, but I don’t think it was totally unexpected and it was supposed to not be found by defender.
It was a completed pass, but rather empty in terms of the basketball game. Lead to a turnover lol

It would have been nice in a pre-game shoot around to get the fans excited.

Here are Embiid's October and November stats:

6 games in October, 43.0%.
5 games in November, 42.9%.

That's terrible, for a MVP. The whole season counts.

Even late in the year in March, he had a 6 for 20 game.
They're fouling the fuck outta him and he hits his FTs. Two points is two points even if you shoot 0.0%

Neither did the nuggets.
If you're referring to 1988, well the Nuggets still had a better record than the Jazz.

The Nuggets had a tie for the 3rd best record.

At some point, I want to make a list of what every team's league record was that won coach of the year (and also compared it to the Jazz league record).

Lastly, I think the Jazz were not great on the road under Sloan. I don't have the stats, but I think in the Snyder era, the Jazz have been a little better on the road. This is something I'd also look up sometime, to see what they really were. If I'm right that the Jazz weren't as good on the road under Sloan, that would have also cost them from having a higher win total.

I have no idea whether the Jazz were average below average or above average on the road, I know that they had a great home record and so while the hypothetical bad road record would be the explanation for the overall record, I would also say that we might have a perception of not being very good on the road because the home was so great.

It is possible to be both good at home and on the road.

The 64 win Phoenix Suns had 32 wins home, 32 wins road.

The 2005-2006 Pistons had 37 home, 27 road.

The 1996-1997 Utah Jazz had 38 home, 26 road.

The 1995-1996 Seattle SuperSonics had 38 home, 26 road.

So among 64 win seasons, the Jazz had the worst amount of road wins.

32-9 is not as good as our best home record (and might not be the Suns best?). Of course, we want both. It’s just that our perception of one may impact the other.

Phoenix had 33 home wins in 2007, 28 road wins.
Phoenix had 35 home wins in 1993, 27 road wins.

The year Utah had a great home record, 37 home wins, they had 17 road wins, 24 road losses.

If the Jazz have 20 more home wins than road wins, it's not a perception problem. They couldn't even get to 60 wins, despite having 37 home wins, because of how bad they were on the road.

12 rebounds, 12 assists, and 30 points. And it seems "ordinary" for him.

Underwhelming. Doncic averaged 40 point triple doubles the 5 or 6 games before that.
