Looked bad at full speed, don't blame the refs at all for the call, but I think the slowmo replay shows Kunitz used his shoulder, and not to the numbers.

I could be wrong, I only saw one slowmotion replay, but that's what it looked like.

Yep, exactly what i was saying in the GDT. I'll be shocked if he gets less than 2 games.

Not the same at all. Kunitz was shoulder to shoulder to him, it wasn't blindside.

I'll have to see it again, but it reminded me of the Kaleta hit when I first saw it.

Not identical, but similar in the way that it wasn't as bad as it was made out to be.

I think Kunitz's was actually worse in terms of force, but not as bad in terms of point of initial contact. I think 2 or 3 is appropriate.

The other difference is that the Kaleta hit was done much closer to the boards, while the Kunitz hit was just inside the end line, but momentum took him to the boards. Kunitz had already finished his hit and turned away from him before he even started to go down.

Pause the above video of the Kaleta hit at the 56 second mark. Richards was still a pretty good distance away from the boards when Kaleta first makes contact.

The only problem is that Richards leaned out to swipe at the pick and was at an awkward angle that led him to stumble and fall into the boards.

The hit by Kaleta was not as bad as the end result suggested.

Oh, I totally agree, and the Kunitz hit was even less ominous...but the results are similar, so you may be right about the punishment.
