If we lose Tate, who are viable replacements?

Here are some names that intrigue me via free agency

1) Brandon Lafell
- He's a 6'3 wr that runs a 4.5. I would say he's like a Dwayne Bowe. If we lose Tate we don't necessarily have to seek a #2 wr to replace him. What we could do is just bump Baldwin to #2, Kearse to #3 and sign Lafell as #4

2) James Jones/Jacoby Jones
- Intriguing home run threats that could open up our offense

3) Ted Ginn
- Small, bulky, quick, and fast. Sounds very similar to Tate, except I would say Tate goes up and gets the ball at its highest point better than Ginn. However, as mentioned earlier we don't need to find a #2...Ginn as a #4 is more than adequate. He also provides a great special teams weapon as well.

4) Austin Collie/Lance Moore
- One of them can be our "brandon stokely" of a few years ago. Just a reliable veteran who can catch passes and get open

Draft a couple WRs. Kearse/Baldwin/Harvin should be more than adequate along with someone like Jordan Mathews. If we sign Finley and reduce Miller's contract even better.

I think the draft too. I don't watch ANY college football, but the word is that WR is very deep this year.

We need someone tall and strong.

Not really into sinking more money in WR. 5 a year is the max I would go on Tate and thats only because he is familiar. A guy that is mildy intriguing is Kenny Britt because I think he has talent and will be cheap. I would rather just extend Baldwin from his tender and draft 1 in the 2nd round. Ok with my receivers being Harvin, Baldwin, Kearse, Draft Pick, Lockette.

Britt is injured too often and has off field issues in the past.

I guess I don't see why. None of these players are A) costing very much and B) expected to start.

Gabbert as a 1st rd talent backing up Kap isn't terrible if he can be rehabbed back. The cost of a 6th rd pick for him and his willingness to take a pay cut to come to SF is intriguing. Again, not a great pick up but not even close to breaking the bank.

Martin for a 2015 conditional 7th gives us depth at OT with a coach he knows and a system he has played under prior to being drafted. Again, another high draft pick with upside that needs a bit of rehabbing.

Bethea is a lateral move IMO. Less effective in run support but better at pass coverage...and at roughly about 1.5 mil cheaper then Whitner signed for.

Our main event is the draft. The Niners haven't used FA to fill out our roster in awhile. I don't know why they would start now.

This draft is EXTREMELY deep at WR and CB.

Remember though it is very rare for rookie WR to do something in their first year

Alexander. Who? Yup. DA. SD has better options and DA will çome back from his injury.

Miles Austin was just released by the Cowboys. Get another WR in the top half of the draft.

That was the name i was about to throw out. As long as you make it clear he is a vet backup/#3 at best...could be worth it. Can't think he would need much money, just make an incentive laden contract part of the deal. The chance to win now might make him want to join y'all for cheaper than most.

Me too, but will he be available at 32 pick? He's 6-4 and a half , 231 lbs., ran a 4.46 at the combine. Tends to push off to get position at times and needs some work to become polished. Played basketball and can go up for the ball and come down with it. I don't know if he'll still be on the board when the Seahawks pick.

I'd be shocked if Evans dropped that far. Most have him going somewhere around 12-20th in the 1st.

I think the draft is the way to go for WR, as well as maybe giving a vet FA a smaller deal. I believe Miles Austin was mentioned, he is a guy that could be worth a look assuming he would take a 1 year deal. Steve Smith is likely to be released, he could be worth a look as well.

I really like Steve Smith for a 1 year. If he can stay healthy and get back to form IMO he's an upgrade to Tate (at least for this year).

We will need some help at WR. With Rice and GT gone, do we want to have to rely on Percy's health to avoid ADB or Kearse starting as our #1 WR?
Draft 2 and maybe sign a vet. Of course we will sign some UDFA WR's and end up with one keeper hopefully.
