DeVonta Smith right on track after the conclusion of his second regular season. Big improvement over his rookie year despite sharing targets with AJ Brown and Goedert and also not having any catches in week 1 he still broke the Eagles franchise record for receptions by a WR. He is already by far the best sideline catch WR in the league. His concentration and ability to get his feet down while making insane sideline catches is unparalleled.

I think he is set to have a pretty big playoffs. He's in a zone right now. He's only going to continue to get better and be looked at as a top 3 WR in the league by the end of next season.

What happened to the BEST WR? Top 3 is a no, top 5 possibly if AJ Brown gets hurt.

He is #2 on his team # 3 if you count RTKs greatest TE. & plenty of top notch #1's throughout the NFL.

So he could be the best #2 & still fight to get into the the top 20. So definitely wouldnt guarantee him a top 10.

That's true with 32 #1's but there's a lot of bad QB play in this league. He did end up 9th in rec yards. Maybe not a guarantee top 10 every year but he could sniff the door step imo if the QB play stays solid.

I think you could eliminate a few of those 32 teams. The Texans, Giants, Titans, Pats all have pretty weak WR rooms and not really a true #1. And there are several teams that have #1's that aren't as good as some #2's. As I've said all along, Smith is a very good WR and that should be good enough. He has a long way to go before we can put him in a group with the top guys. If not for RTKs stupidity in the matter, everybody would be fine with that. Sadly, we get fanboy homerism from a child with limited ability to be rational.

Not totally insane. Not that I wish injury on anybody but with the way Hurts as come into his own as a solid passer DS could be possible top 5 WR in the league if and only if AJ Brown has a season ending injury before week 1. He's a solid #2 with AJ healthy.

I'm thinking it would take a lot more than just AJ going down to reach top 5. Although that would give Smith more opportunities like Lamb with Cooper gone. But too many top tier WRs out there right now.Jefferson, Chase, Adams, Hill, Kupp, Evans, Hopkins just off the top of my head. There's a lot of good WRs in the game all over the league. Not saying Smith isn't one of them either. He is very good along with many others. It's just really hard to crack that top tier. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't but there are no sure things which is what this troll thread is really all about.

Last year with the way Hurts played I would have said no way he would be top 5 but Hurts playing at a high level this year and continues to play at that high level it's not out of the realm DS could be a top 5 WR if AJ Brown got hurt.

The key is Hurts continuing to play at a high level and AJ hurt for the season. Obviously I don't want to see anyone hurt so the chances of top 5 are very very slim to none.
