In my day we walked to school in the snow uphill 2 miles

Players now a days are stronger, faster and better...Same way car today are built stronger, faster and better than in the 80's...

Jordans amazing highlights of "soaring through the air" look like a poor mans blake griffin in todays nba

With today's rules? No hand checking, no hard fouls at the rim...easily the best player. Look at another great player in today's game, Steph Curry, awesomely skilled player..yet when they let them play..a little..rough I'm the playoffs, he's not close to the same guy. Imagine him going against the rugby teams MJ faced in Detroit and NY. MJ could not be guarded with these rules

Again, the fallacy is the assumption that the players from the past wouldn't use the advances today like today's players do.

If the technology that is in cars today was available in the 80's, then cars in the 80's would have been like today's cars.

As far as the way he plays, Lebron is a bigger, faster, stronger version of Magic. But if Magic had the use of the same advances that Lebron has, he's likely as big, strong and fast as Lebron.

it IS a good point. as much as everyone hypes LeClown you'd wonder how he'd stack up if he played during Jordan's time...

I like Lebron (I have a framed autographed jersey from his rookie season in my basement) — he is the most physically gifted player the NBA has seen, but not the most talented. He lacks the killer instinct the all time great had and disappears way too often when the game is on the line.

I don't like Lebron, even with him on the Lakers, but I have to disagree with this.

Lebron used to disappear with the game on the line. But that hasn't really been the case since his first season with the Heat when they lost to the Mavs.

You do realize Jordan has the 2nd highest vertical in NBA history, right? This includes all the bigger, stronger, faster guys you speak of.

Speaking of Blake Griffin — his vertical is only 11 inches under Jordan. Ty for confirming your stupidity though by using the comparison.

Lebron has never had the killer instinct. You are born with it and you either have it or you don’t.

As I said — in regards to physical traits, Lebron is right up there with Wilt Chamberlain as the most physically gifted players.

There is a reason why GM’s were asked who they wanted with the ball in their hand and the game on the line between Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, etc and Lebron received 0 votes.

If he had the killer instinct of Jordan and Kobe — he’d be literally unstoppable. Not everyone has it though.

I'd say no. The best perimeter players aside from Lebron are very good to great 3 point shooters. Jordan never excelled at 3 point shooting and doesn't have the play making abilities of a Lebron, so I think he would generally fall short of the best but in the conversation occasionally.
Haters gonna hate but it’s true.

Yeah, I'm not saying that he has the killer instinct of MJ or Kobe. But to be fair, who does? Those 2 had/have a level of competitiveness and killer instinct that would probably qualify as a mental disorder. lol

What I'm saying is that Lebron learned to take control of the game more and not to disappear in big moments after the loss to the Mavs.

In MJ's prime, in the playoffs, he was getting to the line 13 times a game and getting six assists or so a game and shooting 50%+ from 2pt territory. He has a real quickness to him where he could get to full speed in one step and then have full control over his shot in the next. MJ was built for the modern game. Yeah, he'd have to improve his 3pt shot a tad bit but he still could've reverted into Kobe if he needed to.

I do think if MJ and Lebron were in the same era, it would be a Magic vs Bird kind of debate. Lebron might have actually been even better if he was in the older era. I'd still take MJ but Lebron is going to go down as a top 4 player.

I don't care which one is making them. But I'll take one with deli sliced rare roast beef, swiss cheese and some horseradish.

Some deviled egg potato salad on the side would be nice too.

Good post. I think most rational b-ball fans have Jordan and Lebron at 1a and 1b. We've had the Jordan vs Lebron threads from time to time and usually most can agree they were different times. This is the first Jordan bashing thread I’ve seen and by a Lebron homer and his alt. Which makes it even more fun
