I think people need to remember that this guy comes out of Aussie Rules Rugby. So he's not unathletic, or unused to contact. When he rolled out right, saw all that green, I don't think he thinks, hey MAYBE I can make that, he thinks, I've got that!

I was "meh" about Bevel. I wanted Cables head on a pole and was very happy when he faced the headsman's axe. Agology? Good luck with that but the two of you can keep high five'n yourselves until your hand hurts.

Disclaimer: I did not watch the game yesterday. Hard to get TV reception sailing the San Juan's. :L I gotta work on my priorities.

In his defense, if the call was to simply take a safety, it wasn't "cute," it was safe. The "cuteness" of the result was improvised.

Let me preface this with saying that I agree with the call, but it really is the definition of getting cute with the play calling. He's giving up 2 points in hopes that the increased chances of favorable field position would make it more difficult for the Lions to score 2 TDs. Just like the Lions challenging the catch to save 3 yards - one big play completely negates the strategy, and the Hawks had given up some big plays already.

Again, I agree with the play call - as I agree with going for it on the 4th down play at the 1 - I'm just pointing out that both those plays could be construed as being against conventional wisdom (or cute) by previously unhappy OC fans.

He is definitely athletic - he had enough green to get to the first before the Lions could even get to him - and that's from nearly 20 yards away. Lions messed that up pretty bad, but Dickson made a great play.

Just think what the topic of discussion would be today had Dickson not made the 1st down?

Seahawks improved O-line play is the biggest difference in the running game.. It's nice to finally see some decent O-line play, it's been like 3 years of misery in that area.... Carson should be mentioned also, he's good, but without an O-line good backs get grounded....

Wish my memory was as short as yours, been longer than three years bud. The decline had been on going since Cable got here in 2011.

Haha yeah, I thought of that one. Also the one maybe vs Carolina in the playoffs (??) where he was running alone down the middle of the field and the ball came squirting out of his hands?

You know funny thing about that fake punt is had he just went he would have gone for 50+ lol but he waited and waited and i am sure was like "man i could run this but i got to go out of bounds for a safety"

Going for it on 4th and 1 from the 1 was stupid and made 0 sense. A TD puts you 3 scores ahead, A FG puts you 3 scores ahead also. A failed 4th down try on the 1 yard line leaves you at just 2 scores and gives the opponent some momentum. Dumb call even if they converted and scored a TD it was a dumb call.

I'm sure. Or something like "There's no way its that open. It just can't be! Well, I guess I should do it..."

He waited so long that massive hole started to close and he only got past the first down marker by like 3 yards if that?

I know Pete backed him publicly, but I have to imagine behind closed doors that Dickson was told "good job getting the 1st, but don't do that again".

The upside just isn't worth the risk there. Take the safety, keep a 12 point lead while pinning them back.

actually with the 4th down and goal failed attempt Pete didn't have a leg to stand on to say anything to Dickson. 31-14 is a 3 score game and they would have just kicked it away. Yes it was a risky thing to have to pull off in the final minutes and had Pete played smarter EARLY in the game they don't have to take that risk. Just my two cents anyway and only my opinion.

So you're confident SeaBass makes that kick, eh? ;)

yeah, it was from the original PAT line which had an OVER 99% success rate and the reason they moved it back. So yeah i was over 99% sure he would have made it.

I might have did a drop kick from there also just to say hey look what we can do! lol That would have actually been pretty cool to see.

I love the call to go for it on the 1 yard line, and there are VERY few times where I would ever want to see my coach call for the kicker there. You're going to score there more often than not, and in the event you don't score, you're forcing the opponent to go 99 yards (which the Lions were unsurprisingly unable to do). That was 100% the right call, IMO.

A 14 point lead with 2 minutes left in the game is a plenty large enough cushion, as long as you don't do something catastrophically stupid, which could have been the result of the decision to run out of the end zone. You give them the 2 points via safety, and they have to put together two full length touchdown drives in 2 minutes. Highly improbable.

Again, the risk worked, but it wasn't a risk worth taking.

Our O-line was decent in 2012, 2013, 2014 ..... Russ was running for his life since 2015, those other line were at least serviceable ... I"m not saying they were great by any stretch, just serviceable ...
