ehhh what?Bad Salary? They took back the expiring contract from Leonard and added Jimmy Butler.
ehhh what?

they couldnt just get rid of Whiteside for a first round pick- no one was talking on 27M of shitbag for a first round pickThat is what the heat ended up with in the trade. They did also give up Richardson and a 1st, but they did not take a bunch of bad salary back.

so they traded Whitesides shitty contract for 2 shitty contracts that basically equaled his, and then dealt one of those guys away (Harkless) and had to attach a 1st rounder to him just to get rid of Harkless
Basically, just to get rid of half of whiteside's shitty contract they had to give up a first rounder- and take back the even more inept Leonard.
because Whiteside hurt their pursuit of jimmy butler. He didnt help it- he hindered it, he was a fucking millstone tired around their neck that they had to purge if they were going to get butler. They would have been better off if he wasnt even on the team.I notice in all your critiques you leave out the fact that they also got Jimmy Butler out of all of it. Wonder what the reason for that would be.

i mean do you understand how NBA transactions work?So I am still looking for all this bad salary they ended up with to get rid of Whiteside like you said. Still only see Jimmy Butler and an expiring contract.

absolutely, they bit the bullet and gave up a first rounder and agreed to take on Meyers Leonard (who is totally useless) just to get rid of Whiteside.But....Miami was still able to get Butler.....even though you were derping around in another thread "Derrrr, how's Miami going to be able to pull that off!?!?!?! Derrrrrrrrr"
i mean do you understand how NBA transactions work?
Ill give ya a little crash course slugger.
The Heat were over the tax apron- so they couldnt do a sign and trade.
They needed to cut salary--
they likely tried to trade Shitside and his contract offering a first round pick to any takers. There of course were no takers. No one is taking on 27 million of shit bag for a single first round pick.
So- they dealt Whiteside's 27M million dollar deal- for 2 guys that had contracts that were fairly equal to Shitside's contract.
They then traded one of those guys (Harkless) with a first round pick- just to cut the necessary salary.
So- as i said----
In order to get rid of Whiteside--- they had to give up a first round pick, AND take back Meyers Leonard and his $11.2M dollar contract, who is more useless than tits on a bull.
they would have been MUCH MUCH MUCH better off if Whiteside was simply not on their team at all.
the bottom line is- in the pursuit of Butler, Whiteside hurt the Heat and caused them to give up additional assets- he was a hindrance to their pursuit -- not a help.
Golden State Warriors trade Andre Iguodala, first-round draft pick to Memphis GrizzliesJust about every team is over the cap and would have to dump stuff to take a max contract. Very few teams could have signed Butler straight up. So we agree that like just about everyone else, players need to go to get a max contract signed.
Warriors had to give up Iguodala and 2 firsts to get Russell. That is what it takes to add a max contract when you are over the cap.
I don't want me proving you wrong so completely here to take away from the fact that your original claim that the Heat took a bunch of bad salary back is still wrong.

just think of that
just to get rid of him they had to give up a first rounder and take on Meyers Leonard who is unlikely to even play he is so bad. LOL.
I mean, I couldnt have made up this ending to Whiteside's tenure with the Heat if I TRIED when he signed that abomination of a contract.
Golden State Warriors trade Andre Iguodala, first-round draft pick to Memphis Grizzlies
A. It was one first round pick to get rid of Iguadala
and
B. OF COURSE they had to give up a first rounder to get rid of Iguadala!!! he makes 17M a year and is ancient!!!!
you think 3 years ago they have to give up anything to get rid of Iguadala? of course not- they had to give up something because hes expensive and regressing.
Whiteside was even more expensive, but at least the big worthless asshole was only 29 years old. It wasnt age that got him- it was just the fact that he cant pass, cant shoot and cant guard the perimeter, constantly whines about his playing time, likes to cheap shot other players, and is one of the worst passing big men in the history of the NBA.

my point is, was, and will always be is that Whiteside was hindrance, and hurt their pursuit of Butler, and that in order to get rid of his bloated useless salary they had to take back a worthless center making 11 million a year and give up a first round pick. So, you're bloviating that the Heat traded Whiteside for cap space and the real asset given up is Josh Richardson and a 1st round pick (that was likely going to be in the teens), for an all-star player? And we had to take on Meyers Leonard, whom is an expiring contract?
This ain't it, bud.
i absoutely asnwered the question- Whiteside had no part in getting butler---- he was an OBSTACLE to getting ButlerThat's an awful lot of words to not answer the question you were asked.
i absoutely asnwered the question- Whiteside had no part in getting butler---- he was an OBSTACLE to getting Butler
is that difficult for you or anyone else to understand?
do you know the difference between (i) an asset that helps you get a guy- like Richardson and (ii) an obstacle that you HAVE TO GIVE UP assets to get rid of because he is standing in the way of you getting what you want?
difficult to grasp i suppose.
I mean, its like saying Timo Mozgov HELPED you get LeBron James because you had to give up assets to get rid of him. Use your brain.
