Vote is based on The Now if you were having a tough time understanding, and salary has to factor in.

In their most recent seasons, one was at around 12/11 the other was 10/10.

So for an extra $7 mil HW gives you a couple points and a rebound.....yes, neither is much better than the other.

Excuses, excuses. I'll go by what their career #'s say. You biased & blind homer.

So this is based on The Now yet this thread was started 3+ years ago.:pound:

You do understand how the salary cap works, yes?
In fact I do. I understand whiteside is way overpaid for what he provides on the court and with or without Butler Miami would have dumped him for nothing if they were allowed.

You think they wanted him to pick up his option?

Well, the move was to get Jimmy Butler. Like Whiteside, but Jimmy Butler's a better player. And before Wiggy starts, I'm sure the vast majority would say that Butler's a better player than TT as well.
Of course it was....But Butler or no Butler, do you think the Heat wanted him to pick up his option or would they rather have lost him for nothing?

Because he's a solid role player and they haven't received the right offer. Despite some off the court issues, not a bad guy for the youngsters to be around

Or perhaps it’s because nobody wants him and could probably get twice the player for half the money elsewhere?

Oops....my bad. Honestly, didn't notice it was started that long ago.

But based on The Now neither is much better than the other.

Did someone dig up a poll from 3 years ago to try and say they are now right? 3 years in basketball is a long time. Whiteside is still better today as well, but it is finally close.

The only reason TT has not been moved is the Cavs are not trying to build a competitor, so giving assets to dump salary would not make any sense right now.

generally, guys who are any good aren't used in salary dumps are they? would guess if they were allowed the Heat would have moved him for air....and maybe a box of croutons.
and i mean.....it really wasnt a salary dump when you have to take the practically the same amount of shitty salary back. lol....ya know what i mean?

Moving TT not like the salary dump moving HW was. You think the Cavs would need to attach an asset to TT in order to deal him for a middling player?

A contender would love to have TT at the deadline next year if they had room for him and/or could make it work.

I'd take TT. Similar production for $7 mil less.

Similar on points and rebounds, but Whiteside can still make you think twice about entering the paint. Thomas just makes you excited for all those free layups you will get.

Nobody is taking TT's contract without something extra being added. Cavs might be able to do it for an expiring if they throw a pick in to make it happen.

plus

-Thompson can actually switch out onto perimeter guys better then the vast majority of bigs
-he is a team guy and not an asshole
-he wont shit on his own front office in the media
-he wont cheap shot the other team
-he knows his limitations and doesnt think he should be shooting jumpers
-hes not allergic to passing the ball
-Thompson is an actual leader- and net positive teammate- not a net negative that has to be babied

Actually, you probably take TT because he wears a Cavs jersey
coming off season of 12/11 and 29 years old for $27.1 mil or 10/10 and 27 years old for $18.5 mil. No names attached, and you had to pick one, who would you choose? That's all the info you get to make your decision.

why would the Cavs send an expiring AND a pick for an expiring? You think double double guys who don't care if they score and want to do the dirty work grow on trees?

You were kidding, right?

Money was never an issue. Still isn’t. You’re the only one that brought it up.

CP3 makes more money than Lebron. Is he the better player? Would you rather have him on your team?

Bad Salary? They took back the expiring contract from Leonard and added Jimmy Butler.

You were kidding, right?

I thought he had a few more years, if he is expiring that is the majority of his trade value.

Sure he gets a double double, but players that have a range of 3 feet and also can't protect the rim don't have a ton of value. He has to be paired with a rim protecting stretch player to work. He requires a very particular fit.
