don't know how the hell I missed THIS one, but let's at least TRY to keep things in perspective here...

you're an anonymous clown on a sports message board. if this is serving as some sort a launching pad for your ego i'd say this just MIGHT be a habit you need to break...

believe it or not that's FRIENDLY advice...

I missed it as well. What he's referencing is being a CEO, CTO, etc.. To get to those positions you have sometimes have to out work people, particularly as a CEO. Yes, sometimes they're not liked as it relates to how they handle business, as well as other facets, because some of these people (probably most) come across as egotistical. Now, as it relates to a sports forum, no one gives a shit on what you do for your profession. I'll talk to you the same way whether you were pumping gas in Oregon, or ran your own law firm in Boston.

typical refrain from the people who have either accomplished very little or nothing at all.

as any succesful person will tell ya- if EVERYONe likes you- your doing something wrong. The fact that Heat fans and lakers fans do not like me is in my mind- a great compliment.

And if no one likes you, you're doing something wrong and likely not very successful.

Hint: It's not just Lakers fans and Heat fans that don't like you.

This post shows how distorted you really are.
Nobody here really knows anyone else as far as really liking them or not.
People here form their opinions of others based on reading there posts.
As a group, rarely will everyone agree on any topic, but it's almost universal that the vast majority will disagree with you on almost everything.

Anyone care to compare Thompsons and Whitesides stats in the playoffs thus far?

Anyone but @WiggyRuss would.

Whiteside only shooting 90%, averaging 12 rebounds, 2.5 blocks so far.
Tristans a joke for the money he's paid.

Wondering if there's a single non-Cavs fan around who picked Thompson over Whiteside.

Tristan is more durable, they had a stat that he is the most durable player in the nba only missing 1 game in 3 years...When big guys start getting ankle problems watch out, i would be very skeptical to max a player like that...

TT fills a role sure he is overpaid, but so are a lot of players, gilbert areanas was the highest paid player in the nba for awhile and he wasn't even playing

Obviously now I'd say Whiteside but let's see when someone pays him and where he goes this offseason because things could change. At first I wasn't sold on him but the guy has proven me wrong so far. Peace.

Good point. There is always a risk that with big money, a guy will get a big head, get comfortable and not work as hard anymore because they think they've "made it."

Tristan got the money and still works hard to his credit.
Only problem is, he's not very talented.

A cautionary tale about Andrew Bynum (and possibly Hassan Whiteside)

ill spend my 21M a year else where if i am an NBA GM and be GLAD i did it.

THIS is the guy you are gonna give 80+ million too?

According to CSN California's Kings Insider James Ham, who has covered the Kings even before Whiteside's arrival, veteran Samuel Dalembert and Pete Carril tried to teach him shot-blocking techniques and he'd blow them off. When Whiteside would relent, he'd respond, "Alright, I'll give you 10 reps and that's all." Will that non-chalance return with security?

Heat President Pat Riley has no choice but to attempt to keep Whiteside in the fold. If there were better free agents out there available at the position instead of the 30-and-over likes of Chris Kaman, Al Jefferson, Joakim Noah, Zaza Pachulia, Ian Mahinmi he might be more inclined to let him walk. Like with the oft-injured Bradley Beal getting a max offer from the Wizards, supply vs. demand creates the backdrop for all of this. The scarcity of assets causes value soar -- and runs concurrent with the salary cap going from $70 million to about $92 million in 2016-17.

Teams take risks on younger players with questionable attitudes and even health. They play the "what if" game and hope year-by-year progression bears fruit. Maybe Whiteside has reformed, but for most of his career he has been a malcontent. What happens when he no longer has to toe the line to stay in the NBA? What happens when he knows no matter what he does or says, $93 million will eventually show up in his bank account?

Whiteside was upset because he wasn't in the All Star game, wasn't D player of the year, etc...
I'm not saying he should have been.
I'm just saying he is driven and wants to be the best.
Up until his time with the Heat, nobody on the Heat can speak for him.
Since he's been here, he hasn't been perfect, but his work ethic has.

Whiteside has a legit chance to become he next Larry Sanders, so I fully understand not wanting to sign him to an $80 million contract.

That said, the question originally posed was who would you rather have today. Whiteside is obviously the better player. Anyone who answers Thompson is betting on Whiteside falling off a cliff after he gets paid.

There is a HILARIOUS story at the end of that podcast that tells a story of Whiteside flexing in what he thought was a mirror---- it was really a room in the media room with one way glass- and Whiteside is flexing and making all these ridiculous faces and the media is just on the other side of the 1 way glass laughing their asses off....

Whiteside asking the beat writer why he is in the locker room all the time- on the road, in the airplane, asking is he a super fan? why does he follow the team around?-- this a YEAR AND A HALF in to his time with the Kings--- DeMarcus Cousins heres this and- is like "CMON DUDE- thats the BEAT reporter!"....lol

this guy is just a simpleton.

that and he cant even stay on the floor. Teams just DONT PLAY centers like Whiteside anymore- its just a bad way to spend your money in todays NBA unless the guy is dominant and you are gonna play inside-out with him------ you cant even keep the guy on the floor against a ton of teams....spend the money elsewhere!!!!

If you don't think he's dominant, then you're the simpleton.

And "ton of teams"? LOL
Name that list?
