@CitySushi
Who is missing from that Defensive Rating list????? (the majority of the players on that list are either Centers or PFs).

I wonder if whoever made this list was only taking intangibles into consideration.

lol...obviously usage rate is not in either stat ....did u just shit when you were looking over it and saw that? haha

and dont mind him- hes always immediately jumps to the conclusion that someone is out to get him- (turnup)
immediately i knew "just too good" was how crazy that was- ESPECIALLY since some of the other advanced stats widely prescribed to have shown Whiteside to be deficient defensively- and if i had 400 guesses i would not have guessed TT as the top of offensive efficiency rating, lol.... yah some of thsoe stats are OBVIOUSLY better than others.

Out to get me?
Quite the opposite.
It's supports a lot of what I say.
Obviously Gordon wasn't implying Tristan had more offense to his game then those below him.

Honestly @LAD just admit you don't watch the Warriors on a regular basis. What were your thoughts of Bogut last night?

I mean anyone with two eyes and an understanding of defense can recognize Bogut for what he accomplishes on the defensive end. There was a reason the Warriors lost to the Clippers in 2014 playoffs and that was because Bogut was injured. He was so important that Mark Jackson threw him under the bus saying he wasn't playing through his injury, a broken rib.

You honestly have no understanding of defense because you say there's no value in a player playing outstanding defense on his guy, if the other team scores anyways. So Kawhi could play 23 seconds of great defense and if the guy he's guarding he passes the ball because he can't get a shot, and his teammate hits a 3, then what Kawhi did, didn't matter. That to me showed me that arguing with you over this is pointless.

A guy who chases down a lose ball rebound in your mind is better than the guy who forced the miss. That's just asinine.

Dammit why didn't you post that on the 1st page? Would have saved me 45 pages of mumbo-jumbo.

Here's some honesty:

During this debate I have constantly reiterated that I don't think Bogut is a bad center & have given him credit plenty of times by recognizing how well he fits in with this team. But you continue to post comments that come across as if you think I'm completely stupid. What would help is if you drop the "I know everything about the Warriors & what they need" act and allow yourself to see things from a different perspective-something that I've done many times throughout our debate. You can't even bring yourself to agree that stats are used to rate each players performance. Never once did I say that was the only thing used. By refusing to acknowledge that fact it's the same as dismissing it completely. And, if that's the case then please help me understand the purpose of recording stats.

The last time I checked when someonw is being rated-performance wise-tangible things (in this case stats) are used as supporting factors to help make a decision. That decision can be if said person (in this case player) is rewarded with an award, or in corp. America it will help determine if said person should get a raise or promotion. Notice my emphasis on the word HELP. That is my only point. In no way have I ever said he sucks because he's not averaging a certain amount of blocks, rebounds or steals.

Now, to answer your question I watch EVERY Warriors game. EVERY SINGLE ONE regardless of whether they're on national TV or not. As a matter of fact I record every game-even the ones I watch. This is the reason I am able to say that Bogut definitely provides what they need & helps make that team dynamic.

But, IMO that doesn't mean he's a GREAT defensive center. It means he's a piece to that puzzle that fits well. When I think of greatness I think in terms of if he were to leave that team could they easily replace him with another player. My answer in this case is YES. When you look at the other top centers in the league clearly we can see there are better players-ones who can provide great positioning, challenge shots AND average more rebounds/blocks a game. If he were a player with special skills like a LBJ, Kobe, MJ then my answer to that questions would be NO. He wouldn't be easily replaced.

Also, I only used the example of a player scoring regardless of his defensive showing to help you understand my point on why stats should be used TOGETHER with the intangibles in terms of achieving a common goal-DEFENDING. And I think you haven't acknowledged my point about stats & why I think they have to be considered because he doesn't have great stats. And it's asinine that you won't consider the fact that his stats being average is a reason he shouldn't be labeled as great.

Finally, I actually think he had an AWESOME game last night. 6 blocks. SIX!!!One of his best performances IMO.
Could you imagine if he played like that more CONSISTENTLY? He'd definitely be in the conversation of greatness.

I don't presume I know everything about the Warriors and if I come across that way, I apologize. I do appreciate a good debate, which this one has turned it. What has gotten my tone more heated was the fact that we had simply agreed to disagree, multiple times, and yet you constantly tag me in posts trying to draw me back in. For what reason? We're not going to see eye to eye, that much is clear.

If you want me to back off my stance and admit you are right on this, that's just not going to happen. Fans outside the Warriors, who admittedly hate Bogut have said how good he is on defense. That's more indicative of his prowess on defense than anything I could show you.

I get your need for on paper proof, but defense isn't something that can be measured that way. I've always stated that if for you it's an eye test thing, I can't and won't argue with you over it. But you keep harking back to his lack of rebounds and blocks that show he doesn't do anything, when those two things do not correlate to a great defender. It's like saying Steph Curry isn't a good PG because he averages only 6.5 assists a game. That doesn't tell you the overall affect he has on the game if he makes a pass, which leads to another pass and a score.

If you noticed when I quoted you and asked who was missing from the list I rated you with a LOL or as funny. It was done in good fun. It's good to have healthy debates- but what bothers me the most here is when I acknowledge your point but you don't in return. My apologies if you think I'm steadily trying to ruffle your feathers. Not my intentions at all. When I make comments that reference our debate it's only to make you smile. I will stop if it somehow comes across as nit-picking.

I'm not asking you to say whether I'm right or wrong-nor do I think you expect that from me. This is also the reason I repeatedly use the term IMO.

Ahh, gotcha. It's typically difficult for me to find the nuance in online posts. Look forward to many more future arguments/debates with you.

Gilbert changed the rules.
Never expected that.
I was wrong.

hell, it's a sports board. I was wrong too. it is what it is...

if some anonymous clown on a sports board wants to puff his chest up over it though it certainly won't be anything to lose any sleep over...

WHITESIDE SUSPENDED ONE GAME FOR ELBOW
mia.pngHassan Whiteside will miss the Feb. 19 game against the Hawks after he was punished for throwing an elbow and making contact with the head of the Spurs' Boban Marjanovic on Tuesday. Whiteside was assessed a Flagrant 2 on the play and ejected.

But all the while there was perceived discontent about being asked to make his return from a recent hip injury off the bench over the past week.TNT's national broadcast not only pointed to apparent indifference from Whiteside while on the bench, but also included analyst Charles Barkley questioning Whiteside's game-to-game effort
Dwyane Wade on Heat at All-Star break: "We've got to get better"

"He shows up once a week, and he's too inconsistent for my taste," Barkley said during Tuesday's broadcast.

Though there have been more egregious Flagrant 2 fouls than the one that got Whiteside ejected against the Spurs, the Heat coaching staff, teammates and TNT announcers weren’t willing to gloss over it.

“That’s just Whiteside being Whiteside,” TNT’s Charles Barkley said, with Marv Albert, Reggie Miller and Chris Webber offering somewhat harsher analysis on the national game broadcast.

Whiteside’s incident marked the third time in a year, but the first time this season, that he has been ejected for a foul.

Minimum 1 game suspension is pretty much mandatory for a flagrant 2 isn't it?
