I'd do it if I was Yzerman.

Ballard just hasn't fit in in Vancouver; I think he could still play decently down the road. Yzerman might as for a 2nd rounder to take on a cap hit like that but next year Ballard is going to be a better player than Kubina and the future is all that counts for the Bolts right now.

Tampa doesn't have a problem attracting UFA's. Yzerman can spend the 3.85M that will come off the books from Kubina much more wisely.

is horton done for the year? I would guess Peverly is at this time if its a torn ACL. those are massive losses.

Well Horton is not done for the year so to speak but we all know what these concussion symptoms bring and who knows when he will make it back and to what capacity he will be effective.

If Gill can retun a good rpsopect and a 2nd round pick, the Sens have to look at moving their big UFA defensemen.

Based on what Nashville gave up Carkner might garner a 2nd/3rd and Kuba could probably return a 1st and a prospect.

What these teams are willing to pay for rental defensemen is insane, IMO.

Yeah Nashville overpaid big time. The Isles could probably get something decent for Mark Eaton. Jurcina & Staios are UFA's at the end of the year as well. The time to trade Mark Streit could be now.

I have a feeling Parenteau is going to fetch something decent as well.

Parenteau would (and IMO will) return you guys something nice. His value is high right now and Garth should probably pull the trigger.

We'll see. I learned one thing about Garth last year. He wanted 2nd round picks for Konopka & Martinek. If he doesn't get HIS price he won't trade the player.
