Not really. After his lovely 8.62 ERA in April, he put up a couple decent months. Then it was:
5.30 ERA in July
4.31 ERA in August
3.97 ERA in September.

And in case you were wondering, this isn't the steroid era anymore. A 3.97/4.31 ERA are not good. They are below average. Considerably below average.

And Brady fucking sucks.

The difference between Miley and Elias, what little there is, is not worth the price of Carson Smith. His slider eats Mike Trout alive. you guys are going to learn to like him real quick.

Elias hasn't really shown much. He hasn't even been league average. He might be a bullpen guy, but I doubt they put him in the rotation. He's probably just depth for now. Miley has had some good moments(in ARZ). Don't write him off yet.

I don't know much about Carson Smith. I'll have to take your word for it. His numbers are insane, but RP's can be a crapshoot from 1 year to the next.

But bullpen arms like his are running about 3 years and $21-$24M. To replace him is impossible with our crappy payroll limit. Elias is Miley so why throw in Smith? Ara better be the next coming of Roger Clemens or we got taken....again.

I'm not going to defend Miley, but he definitely DID get better as the year progressed. He's your #4 or #5 starter and he'll pitch around 200 innings for reasonable money. This isn't a terrible deal for SEA.

Brady=#1!!!!

He went from a mediocre starter to Goose Gossage overnight. Dipoto must have some tricks up his sleeve to fill the bullpen.

i don't think perennial 200 inning starting pitchers are quite as common as others on here, but i agree completely that smith and elias are way too much for this.

this is the first really questionable trade for me. eh...i guess the 2nd. the trumbo deal was evidently to make payroll room for aoki, which is still baffling to me.

I think Miley for Elias is fine. The Smith part of it is awful to me.
