I am going to get back into fishing this Spring, boys. Expect a lot of questions about the newer gear. Eight years ago, all of my stuff was Team Diawa and braided line was a new concept. I assume that shit has changed a lot since.

I'm thinking about getting a little Jon boat with a couple of trolling motors to hit the reservoirs over here. No gas motors allowed.

not much really. Braid is still the go to line if you're just into "meat" fishing. You know, loading the cooler and taking them home to eat. There has been some innovation in reels that might be worth looking at, but other than that, it's about what it has always been.

this is what I fish out of most of the time. My bro lives on about a 50 acre lake/pond and I have my grandaddy's old 15ft bass tracker with a 67lb thrust trolling motor on it. Just put the trolling motor down and fish. No running all over a lake to find some secret spot and burning gas, just fishing.

I usually carried my two ultralights, and a medium action baitcaster. I also had a couple of striper poles that doubled for catfishing now and then.....

I have seen these ultralight baitcasters that I may have to try.

Going back to Alaska this summer for the Sweetheart Creek salmon run. Insane net fishing.

send me some fresh salmon cock.

It's carnal shit. You fish with huge Kodiak brown bears while two lookouts (armed) watch your back, switching roles every 30 mins all. day. long. But you walk away with a winter's stockpile of the freshest sockeye in the world (about 150 between three "residents").

That's what we're doing. My mom ask me to catch her about 50-60 for a fish fry. I hit the mark today. I have somewhere between 60-70 in the freezer now. Just waiting on her to set the date and start frying. I've already done my end of the work. All I have to do is eat from here on.
