Anybody ever do any interior mods? I'm thinking of having my interior parts done in carbon fiber by a hydro dip graphic place. I've looked into the dash kits but they look kind of cheap. It's kind of pricy but I would like to make the inside look better and I've only dealt with the type of mods that make me go faster...

Yes - Make the inside kick ass.

No - That kind of money can get 20 more HP

I got bored of the silver trim in my car and thought it was too light to go with the rest of the interior, so I wrapped all of the trim with navy blue suede that matches the exterior color

Bought some hydro dipping film and tried it out on my coil covers. Figured if I fucked it up - at least it's under the hood.

Dang guys, both of those mods look good. I've seen the carbon fiber hydro dip stuff online before but didn't know it was actually done with any regularity, thought it was just some people screwing around. I'll have to look into that film, that would look pretty sweet on my air cleaner and valve covers on the 302.

Double silver carbon fiber. Black base coat. Got it from Dip Wizard. My Dip Kit has the same stuff but I think they were selling everything in a "kit" for a marked up price. Dip Wizard gives you the option of buying everything separately. So I got a roll of film, can of activator, base coat and clear. Didn't need all the other stuff (dust mask, gloves, etc.) Only spent around $65. Dipped the coil covers twice and have enough film left over for some other parts.

The process is simple but can be very tedious and complicated until you get the hang of it. I dipped these in one of my beer coolers.
First attempt was a fail and I had to sand down and re-prep, read the directions, watch some YouTube videos, and did it again and it came out pretty good the second time.

I dipped the coil covers in carbon fiber and picked up some ford blue model paint from Hobby Lobby and used a tiny paint brush to do the lettering. then two coats of clear.

I might get some more film and practice on some other stuff before doing the radio bezel, console, and interior parts. Those actually gets seen.

This is growing in popularity among gun nuts and taxidermists. I found a site called "Dip Shits" that was actually started by some taxidermists that were always "dipping shit" in the back now does hydro-dipping as a business. I haven't found too many places in the Dallas area that do it. There is a place in Fort Worth and one in Midlothian, it think, that quoted me about $250 to do my radio bezel and center console. When I found that they are selling DIY kits I figured it would be good thing to dabble with.

I've always been skeptical of that stuff - especially of the DIY persuasion, but that turned out great. Nice work.
