C'mon now, Bosh/Wade have to equal to almost a Shaq.

hahaha

Especially when other teams are held back by the League from trying to put together a similar roster.

and WHAT!?!?! That is not what they were trying to do at all. It just worked out that way that the owners are a bunch of bungling morons.

They did ensure that in the future the only teams with super teams are the Lakers and the Nets...maybe a few others.

Miami is not included in this because let's face it, their fans are kind of lackluster.

If that is the case it is wrong imo but the comparison between the 2s career and place among GOAT was brought up.

So you have to marginalize some of Kobe's rings in order to elevate Lebron in the discussion?

I think a lot feel that if LBJ was teamed with Shaq-prime in LA he would have at least 3 rings...and they might possibly still be playing together.

And then there's this whole "replace Kobe with any other player and the Lakers still win rings" marginalization of Kobe's career. Maybe. Maybe not. Pure speculation.

It really is too bad the LBJ went to cleveland, and that Kobe was not a little more like LBJ.

Why? Why can't people be happy that Kobe was Kobe? He's had a great career. Should Jordan have been a little more like Lebron?

No kidding. Not sure what your points of the bolded parts are. I wasn't comparing who is the better player. I just don't understand why people have to marginalize Kobe's rings in order to make them feel better about Lebron's.

Well then credit goes to you.

These other yo-yos are using ring count as the measuring stick of who the better player is.

the 2 switched career paths, James would already have more then 5 rings
and Kobe MIGHT have 2, because I think if Kobe was on the Heat team that lost to
the Mavs instead of James, I feel they would have won.

There it is. Pure speculation. We don't know how their career trajectories would have been if switched. Just a typical way used to marginalize Kobe's career, primarily by Heat fans.

In regards to their overall careers they are. TF12 said earlier that Lebron is currently the better player but that Kobe has had the better overall career. I don't think that is debatable. However, as TF12 said, Lebron is in his prime years with a great chance of surpassing Kobe's numbers.

Personally, I think that the Lebron/Kobe comparison is a bad comparison for both!! They are very different players who have been asked to play different ways!!

Kobe/MJ and Lebron/Magic are better comparisons, imo!!

Kobe, like MJ, has been asked to focus primarily on scoring and defense (not that he's had a problem with being asked to score. LOL!!). While Lebron, like Magic, is asked to play a more all-around game focusing as much or more on assists and rebounds as scoring.

Kobe has shown throughout his career that when it's asked/needed, he can step up and play a more all-around game and add assists/rebounds. Lebron has shown that when his team needs him to score that he, like Magic, can do that!!

Be prepared for another lockout in 2017 that the owners primary focus on will be making sure there are no super teams unless they can become that within the structure of a near hard type of salary cap.

I have watched both Lebron James and Kobe Bryant for their entire careers. Lebron James, beyond the shadow of a doubt, surpassed Kobe Bryant many, many seasons ago. He is better in every measurable and intangible way on and off the floor. Kobe Bryant was a great shooting guard but Lebron James has cracked top ten all-time status. That's just facts. Word.

Magic did retire early, he could have seen a couple more titles.

Everyone wants to say LeBron has won as many as Kobe, 5 > 2. They should be pointing out the fact that LeBron's already lost as many Finals as Kobe has in his entire career. I'm just not seeing LeBron beat out Kobe in rings.

Sorry man, but that statement is definitely not true. Magic lost in the Finals to Jordan and the Bulls right as Jordan hit his championship run. Magic was older and even recognized it in the Dream Team documentary during the 92' olympic games.

I don't know if Lebron will win as many championships as Kobe, but it is possible. As of right now, it does not look like there are any serious challengers, but a lot can change in a season so anything is possible.

Didn't Lebron name Jordan, Bird, and Dr. J as his top 3? So Magic responded with the ring count of himself, LeBron, and Lebron's top 3. I don't think this has anything to do with comparing all the all-time greats. I'm sure Magic thinks highly of Cap and Russell. The things some people make a big deal about...:L
Correct.....which makes you wonder why Magic went out of his way to even responded about James' opinion in the first place? Didn't see Cap or Russell rush to lash out because their feelings were hurt.

Bottom line is he was dumb to say "rings are all that matters"

Again you are mixing apples and oranges and taking things out of context. Magic was comparing those players specifically and was pointing out or trying to that until Lebron gets his - he can't call himself the best ever. Thats the way it works in America - you have to prove you're the best

Well, he had just gotten diagnosed with HIV.

At the age of 36, Johnson attempted another comeback as a player when he re-joined the Lakers during the 1995–96 NBA season. During his retirement, Johnson began intense workouts to help his fight against HIV, raising his bench press from 135 to 300 pounds, and increasing his weight to 255 pounds. He officially returned to the team on January 29, 1996, and played his first game the following day against the Golden State Warriors. Coming off the bench, Johnson had 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists to help the Lakers to a 128-118 victory. On February 14, Johnson recorded the final triple-double of his career, when he scored 15 points, along with 10 rebounds and 13 assists in a victory against the Atlanta Hawks. Playing power forward, he averaged 14.6 points, 6.9 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game in 32 games, and finished tied for 12th place with Charles Barkley in voting for the MVP Award

Jordan is one thing but had he been able to compete, he might have been around long enough for a few runs with Kobe and Shaq. The Hornets never even thought about drafting Kobe.

WTF are you talking about? You'd have a point if James....you know, actually put his own name on his own list.

It's just a clear case of Johnson being butt hurt, that's all. How dare someone have their own opinion of their top 3. And it's probably more of LeBron's top 3 favorites and not top 3 all-time.

Sorry Magic....not everyone is lining up to bow down and suck your dick.

The person that said Kobe was only the best on two of those teams is really talking stupid as usual because That team was called the dynamic duo for a very good reason. That reason is because Kobe and Shaq collectively the best players in the NBA period. That was an understood and stated fact throughout the league at the time

"Hey dumb ass - Kobe was a role player - Shaq was the leader"

sound familiar?

Kareem was worse with the statue in my opinion though. I guess Magic thought LeBron looked up to him?

I'm sure he does, but maybe James thought Magic was a better person and not rip on him at speaking engagement.

Hard to say. I originally predicted that when the Big 3 came together in Miami that Lebron would win 4. I still stand by that. I can't see him reaching Kobe though. The new CBA makes things trickier. Then again he could stay at 2 (doubtful) or he can hit 6. Who knows what the NBA will look like 4 years from now let alone next season.

I was just stating that I think Magic hit his title limit based on Jordan's era just beginning as Magic was on his way out.

The funny thing about that video is that Magic says "people ask me all the time, who's better Kobe or LeBron. C'mon man, Kobe has 5 rings and LeBron has zero"

Further proof Magic actually thinks a player with more rings = the better player.

DUMB!!

I can't listen to the video here at the office, but was he talking overall careers? A few years ago that was certainly the case. Lebron is closing that gap numbers wise and has been the best player in the world for several years now. Magic does call Lebron the best player in the world currently. I think Kobe still has him regarding overall careers. I also think, with Lebron currently in his prime, he will likely surpass Kobe's numbers.

This whole topic certainly has your panties all twisted up. Was Magic's tweet really that big of a deal?
