He signed a five year deal. Very little is guaranteed.

It all depends on how much is pushed to year 5.

Exactly right. There is only $45m guaranteed (I think $32M totally guaranteed), but we all know the deal will be restructured next year and most likely every year.

I thought a lot of his contract was guaranteed.

I say he'll be around the whole contract. Even if year 5 is heavy, Romo will be long gone and so will his bloated salary (not that I'm against his salary, but he's owed more and more each year because of restructuring).

I heard that by March of 2017 he will have been given all of his guaranteed money, as the contract currently stands. More and more will be guaranteed as they restructure to push money out

If year 5 is loaded with 20M+ he may not see that check. As Jarntt says I need to see the details before I answer

Dez is 26 years old and a legit #1 WR in this league. The Cowboys (or the Broncos with DT) wouldn't have structured a deal where they are forced to waive him after 4 years if he refuses to restructure because he will likely still be a very good player at that point. He's a WR...not a RB: 30 is the age of slight decline....not the age of dropping off the cliff.

The deal will be structured so that the Cowboys have him for 5 years and, unless major injuries that limit his ability moving forward pop up, he will play out this entire deal.

Don't forget the possibility of an off the field issue also cropping up. I think Dez has matured, but in this world anything is possible when you cut a check for $20M to a 26 year old.

I'd be shocked if he makes it halfway thru the 2016 season before demanding a trade. There's no more volatile player in the league than this guy. Play out the whole contract? You should call Vegas for odds on that because I'm sure they'd love to take your credit card number.

I'm not worried about Dez at this point. I think he gets it now. I think now, he just wants to win and is fully committed to doing so.

Hardy and Gregory, that's another story. Hopefully the Cowboys didn't make a mistake with those two.

Why would he demand a trade?!? He is the #1 WR on the team that he grew up cheering for and he is getting paid handsomely to do it now.

Dez is the definition of "Living the Dream".

I'd take that bet.

Oh okay. I guess you don't want much Dallas Cowboys football or highlight shows.

I'm not saying he is not a volatile nutcase. I'm just saying he'll be a happy nutcase in Dallas for the next 5 years at least.

I do :)

Not sure why he would ever want a trade. He is no different than every #1 WR who wants the ball on every play, but they realize that isn't a possibility. I trust Dez, and I trust the leaders around him.

No more volatile player in the league? Obviously you're the one who doesn't watch Cowboys football. I would take that bet all day.

Oh ok. So it should be easy for you to name a few. Maybe even several.
