1st string hurt before the season
2nd string hurt during the season
3rd string sucked
4th string sucked less.

Rip Foltz

PS Nebraska’s delay of game penalty to honor Foltz is one of the greatest shows of humanity I’ve seen on the football field. It’s a “missing man” formation for civilians.
Class move by Fresno St for declining the penalty as well

Another Riley recruit.

To his credit, he was rated as the top punter but Sam Foltz died in a car wreck where the driver was from Michigan State and that put Caleb in a tough spot. Automatic starter as a true freshman.

Mentally, he never got his act together. He definitely has a strong leg.

When Bob Diaco(defensive coordinator, hired by Shawn Eichorst) came in 2017, Lightbourn did show improvement, but the defense was an absolute abomination.

Riley paid to leave. Something like $6,000,000 I am sure the internet has the number.
Diaco fired.
Riley Staff fired.
Shawn Eichorst paid to leave. Father of a child molesting son, paid $1,000,000 to leave Nebraska.

I think Nebraska had something like 5 punters on the roster. Pretty sure we can afford to lose one.

Caleb took over the punting duties after Sam Foltz died. Never easy to be thrust into a future NFL punter's shoes as a true freshman. Caleb handled it well and wish him well wherever he ends up.

Also, RIP #18. 23 years ago today.

All interesting. I thought Frost was going to do some good things for Nebraska. Looks like the team is still struggling to get back to its old winning ways.

WTF ??? A new coaching staff and complete change of offense and defensive philosophy.

They started (0-6)

They finished (4-2)

Of those last two losses

By 5 points to #3 Ohio St (13-1) on Nov 3rd, (31-36)
By 3 points to #25 Iowa (9-4) on Nov 23rd, (28-31)

Both Ohio St and Iowa won their bowl games over #13 Washington and (previously #18) Mississippi St.

In the process of those two losses they beat Michigan St. (bowl bound).

Let the team that had gained a bit of experience by the last 6 games of the season play the first 6 games again and they finish with 'at least' 7 wins and would have been bowl bound.
